You always bring a smile, I love the Daddy Van's sound, I know it's coming but it still gets me each time. I love your Happy Mail, both had such unique items and I love it that they're from other countries. I think of you when I hear the expression go to your happy place, you know to calm yourself down and center yourself? I can picture you in a large room filled with things that make you happy, of course, the room is filled with bright colors and all of the walls and the floor is painted with doodles and collages and paint swatches...good heavens you might be my happy place!

Shannon...you are one of the MOST creative people I've ever seen. Those cards are gorgeous!!! Please don't cover that beautiful art with Gesso...:-) Here I tossed all those greeting cards over the years when I could have been saving them. I have cut pieces of them to use in collage, but never thought to keep the entire card. The different shapes make them even more interesting. They will make a beautiful artist's book. Love the wood card also. How interesting!

OMG I so want to see a process video of you making those signatures! I'm in love with them. I too don't draw, not even a straight line, and i think i tend to doodle in the same way, just shapes, which i thought i was the only one, and that it was a bit weird, lol. I know that zentangle looks easy but can't wrap my head around it. This is something i think i could also do, but not sure where, how, to start. Loved the old card idea, who doesn't have tons of those, right, lol... (nice happy mail) TFS ~ L

those cards are brilliant!!! i think if theres one thing ive learnt from you is that if it makes me happy, thats good enough for me!!! schools in nz are year round, but they have 4 decent sized breaks thru the year. our summer is in december, so school finishes at the end of the year (just before christmas), and doesnt start til first week of feb. we also have lotsa little breaks, anniversaries, nz holidays, easter.

There are a few I can't part with and some I've saved for my art Journals. I never thought of painting them. I will think about that now. I've still got more to go through. 😊

Hi Shannon, I love those see-through photos from New Zealand. To my knowledge, we don't have those here in the UK, either. I know you must visit the DIY stores to pick up paint swatches, but have you ever checked out the mini tester pots? I recently picked up 10 pots for £1 (about $1.50 US) They were all discontinued colors and were being taken off the shelves. BTW, I found these in a Wickes DIY stores over here, I knew them as a furniture company when I lived in California. The best paints are the vinyl ones as they have something in them that is similar to acrylics, so they seal. However, some of the other paints would work well for junk journaling. I recently saw some chalk paints in a sale and these are great for making Gesso. Thanks for sharing your greeting card alterations x
@ShannonGreen
@ShannonGreen 9 жыл бұрын
elkeartsandcrafts Elaine Jones Our paint sample pots must be bigger than yours. Most of the ones we have are 8 oz. and cost $3-4 each. Our hardware stores usually have an "oops paint" shelf where they sell paint that is either being discontinued or it was mixed wrong. That's where I buy most of my paint since I can get those 8 oz. samples for around $1. I can sometimes find a gallon of oops paint for $5. I get really excited when it's black or white since I use those most.

There are some public schools in the U.S. that do a "year round" school year. My kids attended one in Kentucky and my cousin's girls attended one in Alabama. In both schools, the kids went for 6 weeks and then had 2 weeks off. Kinda crazy to get on a good routine with that schedule I have to say. They also had a summer break, but it was not as long. They usually got out of school in early June and went back in early August. I have been homeschooling my kids now for 13 years and we do school year round. We have shorter days in the summer (1/2 days or less) and during the summer we only focus on four subjects math, english, spelling, and penmanship. We take our longest break from school during Christmas. Other breaks are scattered out here and there throughout the year whenever I decide I need a break...LOL!!

Shannon Green So now I have to know (suspect I do already) Did you and hubby see Rat Race with John Cleese and Mr. Bean? Kidding aside, it must be a really hard thing to deal with but you are too happy/funny to have let it done much harm to your psyche.
@ShannonGreen

Rat Race. It sounds familiar but I'm not sure. We watch lots of movies, it's sort of what we do, but I have a hard time remembering which ones we've seen because memory loss is a part of narcolepsy. But yeah...I take my medicine so I don't fall asleep at inappropriate times but I'm still dead dog tired 24/7. Compared to the health problems other people struggle with...I'm very fortunate!
