Best song off the album by a while. Ryder's lyrics and delivery are phenomenal. Love the grape -soaked production too.
@one2one19982 ай бұрын
I'm pretty sure it was Tina Weymouth of the talking heads that worked with production on the LP (could be wrong). Mind you, the mondays were all on the pipe by then hitting the crack like fuck so they maybe went through a few producers

It was the Monday's last gasp. By then everyone was so f'ed up that for the album to come out at all was a fuc*ing miracle. Letting the band go to barbados was a really, really bad idea. The Mondays still had a few more albums in their pockets had the band not spiral down...

@@leoarc1061I'd say the same for Flowered Up, they definitely had a few more tunes of high quality left but sadly the brown got hold of them by that point after weekender had hit the charts

If I'm being sneaky, well somethings just freak me Your voice starts to eat me, it's time for me to leave it now Love it or leave it now The tricks that your churn when you move like a worm When bad talking don't learn how to live Ooh, we'd like to take credit for this We'd love to thank ourselves for this Can't get enough of your sunshine Can't get enough of your love Your love and sunshine, sunshine and love The bad vibes so moody when it should just move me So get me an Uzi and someone to use it who smiles And someone to use it who smiles The tricks that you pull when things get too dull There'll be heads on the table for tea You're not shown how to move like a worm That's a life you won't let yourself learn Can't get enough of your sunshine Can't get enough of your love Your love and sunshine, sunshine and love So love it, don't leave it, just take it and breathe it For Christ sake you'll need it, believe it you'll need it like me Believe it you'll need it like me If pigs could fly, well you might cry There'll be heads on the table for tea You'll just stay in your favorite room Playing with your deepest wound Can't get enough of your sunshine Can't get enough of your love Your love and sunshine, sunshine and love I can't get enough of your love I can't get enough of your sunshine, baby I cant get enough of your love I cant get enough of your suntan, lady I cant get enough of your love I said, Hail Mary, full of grace Where'd you get your angel face? Can't get enough of your sunshine Can't get enough of your love Your love and sunshine, sunshine and love I can't get enough of your love I can't get enough of your sunshine, baby I can't get enough of your love I can't get enough of your suntan, lady I can't get enough of your love I can't get enough of you sometimes, baby I cant get enough of your love I can't get enough of your sunshine, baby If I'm being sneaky, well somethings just freak me Your voice starts to eat me

Critically panned album by an awesome, if not quite suiting, production team. This is the strongest track from it IMHO.

The bad vibes so moody, When it should just move me,so get me an Uzi, and someone who use it And smiles..., That's some dark shit going down there man, it's a line that's stuck with me from the first time I heard it back in the madchester days, happy Mondays and the rave scene were special times that turned dark in the end, this track really gives me that feeling of how edgy raves got When gang culture got in on the mix
@noname1st1394 жыл бұрын
@Alberto Yeah mate, I started 89, stopped going around 93 as the vibe had gone,& the music changed, weird Vibe,edgy af,my mate selling a few E's outside a nightclub in my local town and he had a knife stuck against his throat & had everything taken off him even his necklace, things like that was a common occurrence in the end,real heavy shit sometimes, frigging nuisance lol

This is like the end of the party for the Mondays. The fun had stopped Ryder had got a serious crack and smack habit and things were getting dark...

@@theculturedthug6609 Yeah that crack took his soul temporarily, that shit sends folk nutty,I think I read once him and Bez somewhere abroad recording Only They were established crack addicts and selling the recording equipment and shit on the beach fronts to first come first served 😂 I love the pair of them dearly, Geezer's 👊

this was and is from a great album and still stands up amazingly well to albums today. the Mondays just weren't fashionable enough when Wilson decided the last thing factory would was release the single. its still unfair that the Mondays get blamed for factory's collapse, when they had too many artists, the Mondays and new order albums had huge delays, cath Carroll spent a fortune on her recording, the hac loosing thousands a week and the new office which in total cost around a million pounds.
@keeneboy770015 жыл бұрын
Agreed. It's a bit darker than the other records, but probably more consistent and still a lot of fun to listen to.

+Rich Viola You mean the tapes they brought back from the Caribbean hahahaha. I love this and Rowetta's voice.
@teodelfuego6 жыл бұрын
Rich Viola was quoting Tony Wilson's character in 24 Hour Party People. After spending exorbitant sums to record the follow up to Thrills n Pills, the Mondays came back with tracks bearing no vocals because S. Ryder was too drugged out to write any lyrics.

@@borizovskimilan The song did not have vocals when recorded in Barbados. As far as I know, Shawn had to be dragged into the studio record the vocals after they had arrived. So, the first mixdown had no vocals whatsoever.

Allright allright. Listening to it again it's not that bad. But to answer your question, I was listening because I was a HUGE fan of this band--the first 3 albums--but did not know this album that well. My first impression was that this was kind of junky compared to the other stuff but it sounded good this time.

This album was critically slaughtered at the time but stands up well now. What counted against it was the stories of drug fuelled excess from Barbados where the Monday's discovered crack cocaine. It's a good album.
