Happy NOT Piña Colada Day! Marius and I always miss the booze Holidays but does that stop us??? No it doesn't! Truth be told this isn't the original Piña Colada , this is a much more simplified version made at the Varnish in Downtown Los Angeles and it is not only very tasty, but also super easy to make! No Blender Necessary!
The Piña Colada was created by Ramon "Monchito" Perez at the Caribe Hilton in San Juan Puerto Rico on August 15th 1954. As the drink's popularity grew, other San Juan bartenders claimed that they in fact created the drink and of course hijinx ensued. As per usual! Hope you guys had a happy Piña Colada Day back in July and hope you guys make and enjoy this one!

One of the best recipes I’ve seen for this. The 1/4 lime juice makes the pineapple pop. My minor variation is 2 oz pineapple juice and 1/8 oz Orgeat. It’s just enough to add a subtle touch of nuttiness to the coconut.

In light of there no longer being any heavy cream used in your Pina colada video, how does it compare to last time around, in terms of flavour? Is it comparable to the M&H approach, or does this video’s recipe indicate an improvement for you? Willing to try both regardless!

Yo dude love your guys videos! You two are hilarious when you go at each other! I’ve been sippin on something I’ve been really enjoying lately. I don’t have a name for it or anything and thought I would share so you could possibly improve on it. It’s inspired by some chocolate covered candied ginger I like from Trader Joe’s. Anyway what I do is this: -2.0oz Brandy -0.75oz Trader Vic’s Chocolate Liqueur -5.0oz Ginger Beer I put it in a copper mug but I don’t garnish it and don’t even really know what to use as a garnish besides candied ginger. Hope both you guys have a great week!

I'm not Leandro but I can try to explain what I know. Whip shake means to put some crushed/pebble ice in the shaker and, depending on how much ice you used, shake it until the ice is fully melted or for 10-15 seconds and dump all the content in the glass and fill it up with more ice. (Edit: you use this method for a lot of tiki cocktails, or just drinks that are served on crushed/pebble ice.) If you do cocktails including egg, you dry shake it first without any ice (for about 10-15 seconds) and then add ice and shake it again. For most cocktails you just shake with regular ice (or if you have big cubes you can do one full and one cracked cube) for 10-15 seconds and the outside of the shaker is nice and cold and then strain it out on fresh ice.

JB is a bit rough. i'd recommend a good ol whiskey sour. make sure you use fresh lemon juice, and the egg white really makes it. probably start with 3/4oz lemon and 3/4oz simple (if 1:1), then adjust to taste. step 2: get better whiskey!

I hope one day someone with a large following does an explanation of coconut liquids, and how they all interact with each other. Here's my understanding: Coconut Milk/Coconut Cream These are pretty much interchangeable, but can sometimes (but not consistently) be define the fat content. Presumably, coconut cream would be a higher concentration of fat, but they are essentially the same thing IMPORTANT NOTE: This does NOT come pouring out of a cracked coconut, young or old. That would be coconut water. Coconut milk is made like any other nut milk - by shredding the meat, and soaking it in water. The suspension of coconut fat in water is the result. Coconut Water This is what comes from the middle of a coconut (especially young coconut, as it hasn't been absorbed or evaporated). It has little to no fat, and while some drinks use it as the base, it's used more like a juice than a "milk" "Cream of Coconut " This is a really poorly named creation, I think started by Coco Lopez. It is coconut syrup, made by combining coconut milk/cream with sugar. It's really easy to make, as Leandro noted in the video. There are many recipes out there, I prefer one that has the sugar melted right into warmed coconut milk. It keeps well, and pours well even when cold (relatively). My one wish is that bartenders just start calling it "coconut syrup" (although that might cause some confusion considering you can make syrup using coconut palm sugar and water... so....)

Maybe not a fancy cocktail but in Denmark there is a cocktail that tastes like the Carletti chocolate bananas, we call it "skumbanan" in danish. its a very simple drink that only uses Pisang Ambon, chocolate milk and crushed ice, but it tastes delicious. I'm sure it can be made more complex and made better but that's how its made where i come from. There is a stronger version which uses vodka too.
