I've been watching all your videos in the last 24 hours for the first time...you are amazing man!!! We are so similar...you speak for the nostalgic gamer and you recall your memories so vividly. Really happy I found you. I'm 25 and we share so many memories, I feel like we grew up in the same glorious days of gaming.

dynamite dux looks ok in the arcade version, not a good game but had interesting death animation for the enemies, music is good at least the first level sounds like a ripp of dave theme from maniac mansion which is the best video game music ever.

Lagoon! It was the first RPG I played I think. I have very faint memories of it, but I remember liking it somewhat. But I was like 8-9 years old so maybe I had low standards.

Lagoon is more of an Adventure game than an RPG and it IS a great game. Absolutely love the music from the very first second you turn on the power until the The End screen. The only pet peeve I had with it was the single save file. Would've loved at least 2 files.

by that time when no reviews on game, before I buy games on my SNES, my friend and I always went to National Bookstore, a store where we can only find some video game magazine, that time you can peak on a magazine if not sealed and see if what game is new and good then put it back and start hunting for that game.
@DeRockMedia9 жыл бұрын
T2 for NES was my experience... 50$ down the drain...never made it pass the second level with the Truck chasing you on motorcycle.

stonerdemon I was around 6+ years of age..frusterated me to give up and just go back to Mario 3 :P
@stonerdemon8 жыл бұрын
+Derek Kunze Back at that time (1992, i was 13 I think), my older brother bought a bunch of games. Too bad (or too good, it depends) most of them were very hard: Double Dragon 3, T2 and Prisoner Of War, among others. Many years later I bought Battletoads, and now I can proudly say that I finished that game with no warp zones and no 2nd level crow exploit :D
@DeRockMedia8 жыл бұрын
stonerdemon ya i recently beat Zelda 2 without state saves, or guides.. one of my favs. btw your picture from Ren and Stimpy? looks like the dad from the episode where they visit their number one fan..just a guess
@stonerdemon8 жыл бұрын
+Derek Kunze Hahahaha, yeah, he is Anthony's Dad!!! I just love Ren & Stimpy. The SNES games kinda sucked, but the cartoon show is the most revolutionary since the Looney Toons, in my opinion. Check an online store called 80stees, they're offering a nice R&S tshirt for $20.00 with free shipping. I'll buy it this week :D

@Grimace98210 жыл бұрын
I hope no one hunts me down for this, but one game that I really hate is the original Zelda. I remember getting it in 86 or 87 and just not getting what my friends where so hyped about. I played it a bunch at first trying to get into it and so I would know somewhat what my friends where talking about it never happened. I have tried to play it a dozen or so times over the last 25 years, and I dislike it as much today as I did thin. With that being said A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker are three of my favorite games.
@randomenvelope10 жыл бұрын
I've played and finished Zelda 1 100%, but I think it is very poorly made. The fact you needed to buy a guide to actually know how to play it or what the fuck you are suppose to do is utter bullshit, thankfully, I played it in the era of the internet. Thank you internet. But its still bullshit.
@fy879810 жыл бұрын
randomenvelope You didn't need a guide. I played it without one. Including the second quest. It's still entirely valid to dislike it. I can understand why. But it's not badly made at all.
@randomenvelope10 жыл бұрын
You don't NEED a guide but you were in for some insane amount of exploring if you decided not to and the fact you needed the light arrow to kill the final boss and there is NOTHING that tells you about it in game is bullshit! and also random walls being bomb-able or random burn-able trees I find is also lame, but most of them are just secret rupees, but some are heart containers. You can like it for all I care, I didn't say I dislike it, I just think its poorly made. I knew what I was supposed to do so I mildly enjoyed it. But I think it ages as well as a carton of milk from the 70's
@yarrose35010 жыл бұрын
Oh no you don't! Don't you dare try to get out of the ass whooping you're gonna catch by pretending to like the other Zelda games!!! You already committed heresy by hating the original so don't you dare think you can redeem yourself with such a disgusting lie you pig!!!! Lol nah dude I understand your hatred of the original. I personally loved it and played it religiously after I got it for christmas the year it came out but man I tell ya, when you saved your game with like 12 hearts and came home from school to play it only to find that the god damn battery back up failed and erased days/weeks worth of exploring and devotion WASTED!!! Haha so it's not so hard to imagine the original Zelda being disliked. Tell me though, anything specifically you disliked about it other than what you already mentioned?
@aelc282910 жыл бұрын
I would say it is more open ended. It is supposed to be an adventure of your own not a guided quest. A Link to The Past catered to people on both sides of the coin a bit better but that is why many adored the game.
@AnArchyRulzz7 жыл бұрын
People who dislike a video just because someone doesn't like a game you do shows how narrow-minded people on KZfaq are and unable to take an opinion.
@DehnusNorder7 жыл бұрын
THey can dislike if they want, that it all fair. They just shouldn't get angry or be mean. But pressing a dislike button? Well that's their prerogative ;). Likes or dislikes are really not that important :P. I mean.. it's lower on the ladder than your Neighbour having an opinion on the colour of your back scratcher ;).
@AnArchyRulzz7 жыл бұрын
DehnusNorder it just shows how close minded and how they are just unaccepting of a contrary opinion. Sadly the internet has created all these different bubbles where everyone reconfirms our opinion. So it makes people lash out when someone goes against their opinion. It is one thing to comment that you disagree. But to dislike the whole video because someone didn't like a game that you liked is absurd.
@DehnusNorder7 жыл бұрын
Dave Hobbs Maybe, but if people show a dislike, they throw a dislike. That is nothing important to worry about really. I mean, you have the same with people worrying about likes. Who cares that they "press a link" on the web ;). It's their problem not yours or mine ;).
@AnArchyRulzz7 жыл бұрын
DehnusNorder well it impacts the channel. I am pretty sure dislikes have an effect on where the video shows up in KZfaq's ranking or w/e
@DehnusNorder7 жыл бұрын
Dave Hobbs Yes, but do you want to show up on the channels of those people? They dislike you already anyway for "not liking what they like". It will only get worse.

You're exactly right-you bought a game back then based on the cover of the box! I totally remember doing that!
@c17slug8 жыл бұрын
When you said that back in the day we would buy games based on the box it reminded me of when I was a kid. I had just gotten a SNES and my mom took me to the store so I could pick up a game. I would only get two or three games a year (Christmas, my birthday, and something in the summer) so I was looking long and hard. I decided on Final Fantasy 2 US because the box art looked so cool. I was I think 12 at the time so I've played a RPG before. Luckily my gamble paid off, unlike your gamble with Dynamic Dux haha

Fantastic vid as always sir. How ironic too, that you would wear that Alex Kidd shirt, since you vocalize exactly how I felt about that series in this video. Hated it so much back when it was fresh, but now I've become more of a fan. Same thing with Super Hang-On; it just seemed impossible back when it came out on the Genesis (as a kid), but nowadays I'm a huge fan of it.
@NeoTurboManiac7810 жыл бұрын
I remember back in 1992, I spent a good chunk of the summer trying to beat Double Dungeons. Countless hours later, I finally beat the game only to get a bit of dialogue and a picture of the castle as the ending. Boy was that a waste.

True story - I remember my nerve-racking experiences at TRU with the VG wall. They didn't even have box art only these plastic cards attached to the rack with information on the games. I still remember the time I passed on Y's III for SNES because I couldn't tell what it was about because of those stupid flappy cards. The struggle was real.
@VBshredder6 жыл бұрын
Ah yes i had forgotten about that scam with the cards...if i recall usually there was no art at all, just a white card with the title...horse****! ...better had read your EGM that month or you were screwed.
