Here are some tips for your cleaning job: You can find some glass jar and put your parts in it with detergent and then drop them in the ultrasonic tank full of clean water. In this way:1. You can save your detergent 2.Clean faster 3. You don't need to clean dirty ultrasonic tank.

I don't have this model but I do have one of these. I've used it on almost anything you can think of including small engine parts. I agree with what you demonstrate here....they work wonders given enough time. I once had a deep sea reel in for repair. It was rusted solid including all bearings. I dumped it in the cleaner and in under an hour it was unlocked and ready for disassembly. I return this reel to service without replacing a single roller bearing thanks to the cleaners ability to break lose rust from hard to get to places without causing scratches. A great thing to have. Great price too!

That's right Bain- time is all it takes. I don't mind it taking as much as it might if I'm not standing over a sink for hours with an aching back and a face full of chemical...lol. I've been throwing in parts and doing other things while they clean. It's like having a helper. Good story on the reel. It's a testament to them getting into all the nooks and cleaning out the garbage. I now want one as big as a house....lol. Take care, G.

bought the same unit recently. I absolutely love it. I use it for carburetors. I just rebuilt an Italian atlas carb, can't find a new one. its paid for itself on that carb alone. I tried carb cleaner and wire, but NOTHING cleaned it like this cleaner. worked wonders on my small outboard carb as well. I use four 8 min. cycles with Pinesol and hot water. definitely worth the money.
@ghostses
@ghostses 8 жыл бұрын
That's cool Kirby! I love mine as well. I too have used it for small carbs (among tons of other stuff) and it simply works great. Much better than my old way of carb cleaner and wire- like you stated. I need to get some Pinesol to try out since I've heard it works great. Agreed, it's worth every penny! I really want to get a bigger one so I can do larger parts. Mine's rolling up on 2yrs old and the only problem I've had is the basket is getting brittle and falling apart. New ones can be had on Amazon for little cash. If/when yours starts breaking up, look through the comments and you will find a reference to a better style replacement- either plastic or stainless steel. Take care, G.

Thanks Mac! I've now cleaned many parts, bolts, nuts, etc. The bigger stuff is what I'm down to now and it's not fun cleaning the old school way for sure. I want a bigger one already. Anything you can think of can be cleaned with one. It's just a matter of using the right chemical for the job. They work great for sure. Take care, G.

***** Thanks for this. I have the smaller HF model and it works well also. Regarding cleaning large stuff, if you don't already know about it, look into electrolysis (for rust removal, not the hair-removal method). It's simple, uses a battery trickle charger, water, and washing soda (sodium carbonate). Here's a basic vid: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a5pxd8hzm7yVooU.html What the vid doesn't tell you is that electrolysis removes or at least loosens almost anything (not just rust) that is stuck to iron-based metal, including paint. Also, the process is not actually removing rust (although some of it does separate), but rather restores the steel or iron on a molecular level by separating the oxide part of iron oxide, leaving just iron. I've used it many times with great results! Only use it on ferrous metals though. Stainless steel is a no-no, as electrolysis liberates chromium, which is a heavy metal. Sorry this is long. Hope it helps!
@ghostses
@ghostses 9 жыл бұрын
durlydurl No problem! Glad to hear the smaller model works well. Thanks for the rest of the info, I'm sure it well help others out as well. I am familiar with electrolysis, and do know it's quite effective, but have never used the method personally. What's funny is I could have used it plenty to date, and have everything needed down to the washing soda...lol. Take care and good luck, G.
@durlydurl
@durlydurl 9 жыл бұрын
Always my pleasure to share info. It's what's great about KZfaq! Instead of washing soda, baking soda works almost as well. I've since found out that the washing soda can be made by putting an amount of baking soda in the oven @ 300 deg F. for 15 mins or so. But I bought the washing soda at my local Ace Hardware store (arm & hammer). Best wishes.
@ghostses
@ghostses 9 жыл бұрын
durlydurl I agree! This site is great. I used to have to go to the library, randomly call people, or drive to businesses to pick brains. Now I just move to the computer and- done! Good info on the baking soda. You've jogged my memory. When I read washing soda and Ace Hardware- it dawned on me I actually have a box. I can't remember why I even bought it- but that's where I got it...lol. I know I have looked into electrolysis- which may be the reason I have it- I can't think of any other reason I would have picked some up...lol. G.

Walmart still sells this exact cleaner after tax for $73 dollars. Good value in 2022. Does a good job, took 40 minutes to get some .45 acp brass real clean. Heats up well. Don't run it for more than 30 minutes without at least a 5 minute rest. Didn't use the basket as the manual says it cuts effectiveness by 30% to have that plastic basket in there. 90% of primer pockets were perfect. Within 5% as good as pins, but then they run there's 3 hours, not 40 minutes. I'm going to finish up with a tumble in walnut, then a tumble in corncob. Pretty darn good. I thought I kept my brass pretty clean. Not even close. That ultrasonic turned the water black after 32 minutes. I did the last 8 minute cycle with fresh cleaner. Easily holds 200 45 acp, 300 9mm. That's not maxed out.

If you use a metal basket make sure its made of round wire. If you use any flat baskets it absorbs the energy instead of reflecting it. The goal of ultrasonic cleaners is to focus as much of the cavitation energy to the surface of the parts in the bath as possible.

That's cool Richard! I know folks use these, or tumblers to clean their brass. I do have a HF vibratory tumbler for deburring parts I machine. It's loud, but works pretty good. I've looked into reloading, but I don't shoot enough to justify the cost. Meaning, I was entertaining a progressive press, etc. I give what little brass I acquire to a friends father-in-law so they don't go to waste. That aside, it's a great little cleaner and works well- especially for what I paid! Take care, G.

Great review and video. I got one on Amazon for $90. It is identical with different name. One thing I don't like is that the heater stays on when the timer shuts the unit off. However the heater will go up to 147 degrees and stop on its own so that's sort of okay. I didn't find it cleaned very well, I wanted to see more vibration in the water. I think it is just a little better than soaking the parts in hot water with a cleaning solution. I wanted to like it but just was not as good as it should be for the price.

How do you dump the cleaning fluid after you're done? I usually just pour the cleaner out. But I notice there's a gap at the top of the tank into the plastic housing. By pouring the cleaner out, I speculate some of the liquid will get inside the gap and eventually corrode whatever is inside. What do you think?

I'd not considered using one in the kitchen for various things. I use mine to clean greasy parts in my shop. @ghostses
@ghostses 8 жыл бұрын
+Nick Patel Nick, for jewelry I use a 50/50 mix of standard Simple Green and water. I also use this mix for most things. The bottle claims 1:10 for heavy cleaning, and 1:30 for light cleaning, but I'm an over achiever...lol. I've not cleaned any of my firearms since purchasing this, but I would probably start out using the same mix to see how well it worked. I have some SG HD but have not used it for much yet, nor have read any warnings on what it might damage. The standard Purple Power should not be used on aluminum. They have an aluminum safe product, but have never used it. I didn't know SG had an aircraft version, but don't think it would be required for anything I would clean. For my firearms, I would clean the parts using the heater function, rinse them with hot water, blow them off with compressed air, and immediately oil them down. I haven't used any of mine for a couple of years but am anal about how clean they are. This will be my method next time and should save me tons of time and swabs...lol. Not necessarily recommendations, just the way I would attack it for myself. But either way, hope it helps. Good luck, G.
