Here is my review on the 1/2" and 3/8" fractional/SAE swivel impact sockets, I think the fractional sets are a better value because of their size range where the metric sets seem a bit short and they cut off too many sizes
1/2" SAE # I3US-14, 56731
3/8" SAE # I2US-12, 56695

I was thinking the same thing, except not just HF. I'm surprised my wife hasn't blocked this channel on my KZfaq account (if such a thing is possible). I buy more tools because of this channel than any other. Project Farm is a close second, and I mostly buy consumable items like glue, grease, and fasteners, because of him. I suspect the main reason they don't send him stuff is because he doesn't have enough subscribers, but the other reason is that they're not sure what he's going to say about anything.

HF is truely becoming a go to for value. I can see them going hard after the truck brands and ultimatly their demise especially with the way the econony is going. I wish they had this quality of tools when i started out in the late 90's.

Snap-On's current crop of ratchet wrenches, are junk based on my personal experience. The old versions, with the teardrop heads were great. I had to retire a couple years back and, since I grenaded several oval head Span Ons, my cheapy H-F ratchet wrenches saved my back loosening 13mm bolt heads and, did NOT strip out their gears. Note I was just just hand strength, NO cheaters nothing yet the H-F proved to be much more durable(!)

Thanks for the awesome review you've noticed things most KZfaq videos lack. I'm getting the icon swivels because damnit I'm not going to spend over $600 for the snap on. This is even because I really want to support USA made stuff because we're losing our manufacturing. If I could find USA for $300 I'd buy it but Icon being at $140 I cannot justify the cost difference because of the lack of daily need for many 1/2' drive swivels.

I have a metric and an SAE set of the NAPA ones. Likely the ones NAPA sold just prior to revealing the Carlyle line. While I appreciate the idea of swivel sockets, I have found that the extra bulk makes them far less useable than I had anticipated.

glad to see Harbor Freight continuing to expand their Icon offerings. However, they don't offer open stock of individual sizes. The collar is fairly thick which may affect access in tight engine bays. I think the new Astro pinless Impact swivel socket sets are a much better value at close to half the price of the Icon sets. I wouldn't get too hung up on the metric size options, it's the usable sizes contained that are more important than the number of sockets included that matters. 24 mm is pretty larger for a late model vehicle. thanks for sharing!!!

Even late model Toyotas use 24mm plugs for manual gearboxes and for the transfer case fill and drain plugs. Some people are so annoyed with them that it's common to replace them with 10mm hex plugs which are used in the differentials.

Not sure if it's still helpful, but they offer individual stuff through the parts department, more expensive than the store price (ie 10 dollars a wrench v 8 dollars a wrench in a pack). Ask the store manager for the number and you can do that. Unfortunately you also get charged a shipping fee

My experience. HF is good, but not great. I bought a set and they have a sloppy fit. Some of the bolts on Toyota air intake were getting rounded. 12mm. I upgraded to the Snap On 212IPFM and it's a world a difference. They grip the bolt better, no slipping and no play. I'm not sure if my HF set was broached or not, but they didn't fit right. If you can get the snap on do it. Again the HF was good, but not great. Good review. I was hoping for a better experience.

Running impacts are important on an impact gun because they are softer and won’t crack like your chromes. Easier on your impact anvil. If you use a chrome in an impact over head you will have chrome flakes landing in your eyes

Do you happen to know of any other impact swivels like the Snappy's that doesn't have the collar on the drive portion, but still uses the pin? I much prefer the pin design swivels but I don't really like that clunky collar, some brands are huge, while others are more narrow. I love the videos, I can't tell you the number of tools I have bought after seeing the interesting things you find out there.

Not trying to hate. But my 1/2” setup starts at 15mm. Why would you need that much torque for anything smaller. Now my 3/8” sockets stop at 19mm so it overlaps. But anything smaller than 15mm in 1/2” is overkill.

I just got this icon set in metric, I've used it a couple of times and don't like it, the reason is, the they don't maintain the angle position completely during rotation, they have a " jump" . Not all the sockets but most of them did, I was removing my exhaust muffler had the socket on an angle and when I press the trigger on my impact gun the dam thing went out of round so bad it literally jumps of the nut this was with the 14mm one, I notice 19mm doesn't do this it keeps turning smooth even on an angle, and we'll the other brand sockets in the shop don't have this problem at all they all run firm on an angle but are 4 times the price

If you need something grab it now. The quality goes downhill in general. I bought some SAE Craftsman wrenches, Kobalt socket set, Vise Grips good 15 years ago. All these tools were made in the USA. Tools sold at Walmart are going downhill and Lowes or Home Depot follows that trend. I think that the Pittsburgh brand will be made in China/India entirely.
