Heads up if you order the tool online it says lifetime warranty in your cart. If you buy in store it only comes with a 90 day limited warranty! So buy online if you can! The lifetime warranty pops up only after you have added the item to your cart. I went and returned the one i had bought in store and bought it and had it shipped to my house online so it would have the lifetime warranty attached!

A) Saw yesterday’s video, went to my HF, the store manager had to go to the back room and open their Shipment, because they didn’t have them on the shelf yet. B) This weekend, there’s a 10% Off Coupon for any one item. I used it, which also reduced the Sales Tax charged (West Virginia 6%). C) So the MSRP is $39.99 BEFORE taxes, I walked out paying $38.15. Yeah, it ain’t that much, but a Buck here, a Buck there, less Tax money going to Bloated Governments, it all helps. And I’m not worried about the Warranty, I’m thinking that this should be at least as good as a current production Wave. Hope this helps.

@EfficientRVer
@EfficientRVer 29 күн бұрын
@@my_dear_friend_ There is nothing wrong with using a design after its patent expires. It is not ripping anyone off. A patent expiration date is part of the deal when a patent is granted. Otherwise, we'd all be negotiating with the heirs of the inventor of the wheel, every time we make something with a wheel, or light a fire. If you think that American companies don't also use designs patented by individuals and companies in other countries first, you'd be very wrong. Everyone gets to copy and use old technology, and that is exactly what is going on here. It's part of what drives progress up and prices down, by setting a deadline for when a company has exclusive rights to the best way to make something, therefore a deadline for when they can charge crazy prices without competition. Before that happens, they often make enough to buy their business jets and private jets and ranches in Montana and mansions in Jackson Hole, while the folks working in the factory do not. Maybe there are exceptions for some mom and pop operations. The mom and pop operation in my own town, has the owner hopping on nis new $50 million jet (Bombardier Global Express) to commute 50 miles, while his old $25 million jet (Dassault Falcon 2000) flies around the country gathering up parents and kids for a weekend with him. A lot of times when you think you're paying workers' wages in a factory, you're paying a billionaire to replace his workers with robots, and paying for the fuel to take the family jet 6000 miles nonstop to a ski resort in Argentina, or to a beach resort in Maui, or clothes shopping in Milan, or anywhere else they point to on a globe. If you're employing Americans, it might be some aircraft mechanics and security teams, rather than factory workers.

3:08 I used to use an old pilot punch set for that. Their shallow points let them nest in the whole, they are long enough to force out most things, and since they are made to be used with hammers, they can take applying force if need be. Next time you are in Harbor Freight you could probably pick up a cheap set. Also, if you want to be extra careful about the threads you could get a brass punch set. I haven't seen any brass ones with pointed tips so if you want that, you would have to add it yourself but that's easy to accomplish with a belt sander, grinder, or even a dremel. If you get into super delicate work like clocks and watches where marring the item or damaging a thread is a risk, you could make them out of nylon or acrylic rod. In a pinch you could make some for small situations out of a used up bic pen, bamboo food skewers, or chopsticks. When I was a kid I took a crystal bic, removed the ink and ballpoint portion, heated up the end to mush it into a point, and cleaned it up with a dremel to turn it into a tool like that to help me fix my grandmother's favorite clock. Part of what makes DIY/EDC so much fun is thinking out of the box and improvising. 21:13 I hope they do! If I thought contacting harbor freight would do any good I would write them and say how much I want them to do this and take multitools seriously. It's been my experience that companies usually ignore that though unless it's a major flaw in something they sell and a law suite is a potential.

I think you installed the blade on the wrong side when you were testing cross-compatibility, so it's possible the lock would actually engage on the other side. I doubt it though, seeing as Leatherman themselves struggle to match up their own locking surfaces (Skeletool being the worst offender in most cases). I've gotta pick one of these up. Looks like an amazing value. The hooked blade and the glass breaker are really nice simple additions. And I like the solid-body pliers. That file with the extremely aggressive edge teeth is something I'm concerned about though - would love to see some testing on that because it looks pretty wild. Was happy to hear the coarse side is a little better than Leatherman's. I've never particularly liked the file on my Charge, other than the diamond side.

As a result of the first video, I went and got a Gordon. Hasn’t even hit the shelves yet at the local Harbor Freight, still in back stock. $42 bucks out the door. I already began modifying- reshaping the flat screwdriver into an awl with sewing hole and making it so the file is easier to remove so it could be used to sharpen the knife blade in a pinch. No where on the packaging does it mention the lanyard ring, good info there. I would like to replace the mini screwdriver with something more useful- a heavy needle, perhaps, or a torx wrench for tool disassembly. Now to find a small knife blade to replace the can opener, or perhaps rob one off a sak. And last but not least, I’m going to replace the screwdriver tips with a small drill bit, just reshape a 1/4” drive drill bit to fit in the holder. I have a very specific list of things I want in a survival based multitool, even approached Victorinox with a design, but they are departing from outdoors oriented gear and into fashion, so it seems. May replace the main blade and file with upgrades, we will see if the stock ones hold up. Overall, seems darn good.

I checked mine and the blades do lock on the Gordon when the pliers are open. The mechanism is similar, the tab that comes out and hooks the thumb hole on the Leatherman is behind the liner lock on the Gordon. It pushes the liner lock out and and into the blade, the dent in it engages a pocket in the blade, locking it in place.

6:00 Buddy?? Buy a micrometre, a caliper, vernier caliper, or digital caliper, or dial caliper is just measuring an approximation! .. I got my first micrometer at 12 years old, when all they made were proper expensive really good ones .. but even a crappy micrometer is super accurate now-a-days. I would never own a dial caliper, they have a bad habit of "Jumping teeth" when you least expect it!!

@@maxlvledc I have a Mitutuyo dial caliper and it's great. If you look at the specs of major caliper brands they're all rated for practically the same accuracy tolerance, once you start splitting the millimeters with a caliper you're approximating regardless of the kind of the display so might as well use a dial which is the easiest way to display approximations. If you need 0.01 accuracy, which the vast majority of caliper-users don't, then you need a micrometer anyways. Just because you can read 0.0x with a vernier or a digital doesn't mean you should, but with a dial you have the quickest job at zeroing your 0.x

What kind of life revolves around the details of multitools? Must be nice to not have anything truly consequential or seeious to deal with.

I don’t know why you’re acting so surprised that a Chinese manufacturer has copied another companies especially an American companies product. 🙄

Designed by Leatherman, ripped off by Harbor Freight and sold for much less. I get it, Leatherman tools are expensive but at least don't buy a product that rips of American companies and hurts American workers. There are less expensive multitools out there that are not copies of another product.

@@EfficientRVer - I don't have a moral dilemma to get over. If you buy cheaper products no matter what, it's your shopping habits that hurt American companies and workers. And in that case, ... you clearly got over 'it' already. Just don't claim to be pro American.

I just watch this for laughs now. No way no way omg no way it's 5.4 mil. 😂. Bud...getting kinda sad doncha think. You opinion doesn't matter to anyone who actually owns leatherman or Vic or Sog or Gerber...its just a multi tool don't go having a stroke over the mil of the anchor.

Oh and also. Harbor Freight could care less about bit kits lol. That wave clone is just another product to a place that's not a strictly multi tool store. And NO your wrong leatherman did not go out of their way for a size. It's a comedy skit at this point...
