I have used these kits for years now. Great for the now great grand children! Give them the kit and they are gone for hours. But they learn and can dream

Great review. Liked how you showed us what you’d keep and what you’d add to make your box more useful. I keep almost all those items in my hiking bag and it’s ready to go. Just found a bivy bag at a shop that purchases storage unit items and sells them. It’s in the packaging and never been used - cost me $2. I was very excited about that find. Loved that you made me laugh again, always enjoy that. You’ve hit 751 subscribers at the time I’m writing this. Congrats!!! PS. As you we’re reviewing this I was thinking someone starting out could use a pencil box and add items. Also, as part of my gear, I’ve wrapped duct tape around a sharpie and added a tiny notebook. I’ve got something to write with if I find something in nature that I want to remember or in a survival situation I have the sharpie, the tape, and paper as extra tender if needed. Another item I recently added was one of those bags from the seasoning packs and the bag that you can bake in. I would be able to use the bag to heat water and it takes up almost no room. Thought I’d share : )

They don't identify that serrated part of the spork, but I tend to believe that is a fish scaler. The bottle carrier is intended to turn a water bottle into a canteen, which is more likely to make sense if you have one of these kits in your glove box, since you may also have a bottle somewhere in the car. Any way to carry water can be valuable to survival if you are forced to travel on foot. If you are trapped in your car, the pen and the knife can crack windows for your escape. The booklet says that the card multitool is magnetized near the compass bearing cutout so that hanging the card by a thread or floating it on water will rotate the cutout to indicate magnetic north. Mostly good ideas there but you could put together a better version with quality well made tools in an Otterbox or Maxpedition zipper pouch.

Id throw cause of room a couple cliff Laura granola bars just for the energy boost
