I cut the bottom of a 1 or 2 liter soda bottle and put the extension through the hole for the cap of the bottle. With the bottle sled all the way around the filter I then unscrew it and slid it all off at once.

The Wheel chock is a harbor freight (Part Numbers 61670, 97841). I added my affiliate links from Amazon to the video notes now and you can go back to the video and hit the link for the scissor lift. Thanks for the questions and taking the time to comment. Hope you subscribe and if you buy through my affiliate link I get a small commission but doesn't cost you any more money. Thanks!

I'm kind of doing the same thing except I'm making a dolly for the front wheel so I can put it in the back of my truck. For the upright in the front that the wheel goes into instead of using the rod I think I'm going to use a couple of bolts maybe with a couple of washer but I think the bolts will make it much more stable. Keep the good stuff coming.

To be very honest, I have tried so many gadgets and KZfaq tricks and was producing a video about all the things that I have tried and when it was all said and done, very few added much value. To answer your question, it was a bust for me. Not worth the trouble. I continue to look for the “holy grail” of improvements and as I find them, I will share them in a video. Oh, BTW, I am likely going to anchor the lift to the concrete floor with TAPCON screws, I am so tired of the lift sliding when loading and unloading the bike.

Awesome - have the same setup and the chock is unnecessarily long. HF has a 8 ton pneumatic piston, thinking about swapping out the hydraulic.

I don’t think I have seen the 8 ton cylinder. I have seen the 12 ton and I thought that was the smallest. Is there a link you have to the 8 ton? Hey Clem, enjoy your videos. I was wondering what brand are those gray and black shoes you're sporting in your intro?
@clemgriffis3446
@clemgriffis3446 Жыл бұрын
Jayhawk, these are Bates Tasers. There are limited sizes of the Taser still for sale on Amazon but the Batesfootwear.com website redirects you to Wolverine. I think Bates was bought out by Harley or Wolverine. I believe Wolverine already makes the Harley brand boots. I wanted to buy the all black boot but only found the gray in my size about a year ago. There is a “Harley” look-a-like called Harley Vardon Sneaker on amazon as well. Great shoe, very comfortable to ride with and to walk around off the bike.

Hey brother, I hear what you're saying about the oil filter mess. I found the straighter. You keep your bike in a upright position. The less oil in the filter, the less mess. You will have work great for me. I put. An old peace of decking plank underneath my Jiffy stand bike. Keep the bike upright virtually no oil comes out of the filter. Hence no mass. You're doing way too much work for nothing.

Lobo, it has a couple of numbers, it is the Pittsburgh 61670 / 97841. They make a nice wheel vise too Item 57775, but you would need a person to clamp the front wheel before you could get off the bike. Thanks for watching, commenting and asking questions.

@@clemgriffis3446 thanks for the info I’m glad harbor freight finally made some upgrades, I bought one awhile back from them but was too flimsy for my road glide so I bought one from j&p that clamps down from turning a handle, it does alright but I have to hold the bike up with one hand while I crank it with the other.

R.H., I have thought about doing that. I have watched a number of folks’ videos with a few different approaches. Actually, a compressor is something I don’t have yet in my garage but I am sure I will buy one eventually. Maybe next winter’s garage therapy sessions I can make the jump to air.

Nice video and good idea . Thanks for posting. How many inches did you remove from the chock?
@clemgriffis3446
@clemgriffis3446 Жыл бұрын
R.D., I cut off 9” but I could have easily taken off 10-1/2” and still had a solid amount of angle remaking for the bolt. I may go back and take off that 1-1/2 inches. You know I have two of these HF wheel chocks since I use one for the back of my pickup truck so I have no problem experimenting with the one for the lift. Thanks for asking. Where are you from?

Hello Clem, I read a comment on another youtube channel, the commenter said he punches a small hole in the lower portion of the filter as a drain, and another towards the top of the filter. It was stated most of the oil drains out the filter prior to removing. Sounds legit, think I might give that a try next oil change . What do you think?
