Nice set up. They are tough, I use the same on my vstrom. I'm using small cooler bags to pack stuff in and a lite elastic across so they don't fall out on the lean. Can't have elastic too tight or it pulls the sides in. Cheers mate nice klr

I have a heap of water usually in the front bags. That helps.

Hey, I installed ammo can panniers on my Klr 650 and get death wobble at 70 mph. Any wobble with yours?

None at all. But I don’t often do 70 mph

Have you ever taken the time to weigh your pannier setup, I’d be interested to see overall weight unloaded and then loaded for a trip in comparison to a soft luggage setup. They certainly have served you well over the years.

I haven't.. but its a good suggestion.. I have weighed the whole bike fully loaded a few times.. When loaded for a long remote trip, fuel, water, food, tools and spares, its pretty heavy, and you have to ride it taking this into account.. This is where being able to quickly remove the panniers is great. You can take them off an lug them across a gnarly bit.

@@jjsadv the ability to remove and carry over bad ground is definitely an advantage, but with the lighter weight of soft luggage maybe that wouldn’t be needed. I’ve stayed with soft luggage purely for weight saving on my KLR as I was concerned about the subframe, even with the bolt upgrade. I do run hard panniers on it for urban commuting though, better security around town etc

@@damienkeygan1735 Soft panniers are popular, and I will probably give them a go next bike. Both work. I have seen a lot of soft panniers ripped off or ripped open on some tracks with close trees.. But I guess you just have to be aware and careful..

@@jjsadv yeah both styles definitely have pros and cons. I also run a safari tank to carry fuel up forward so it’s not rear biased in the panniers, also had to upgrade front suspension but definitely worth the expense

@@damienkeygan1735 I have looked at those tanks, they look like a good option. The DRs always have them, but have kept the jerrys.. again, I can take fuel, and then off load it for an explore.
