Bowling Duck pins as a kid, you were allowed 3 shots per frame. There was a bowling center near where I lived that had 50 lanes. 25 Ten Pin, 25 Duck pin. We used to bowl a couple of games of 10 pin then go throw duck pin.

When I was younger, a bowling center converted to duckpin, but still had the full length 60' lanes. That was wild because you could really get a hook going.
@masterworks718 ай бұрын
Yes, true Duck Pin is on a 60' lane just like 10-pin.

You need to try a real duckpin center either in RI,CT or Maryland. You’re making me miss my game which I grew up on. I was lucky enough to be raised and ran a duckpin center in CT for many years till it closed. Keep up on the great videos.
The ESPN zone in Vegas had something similar - narrower lane? - back, way back around 2002/03. We sucked at junior world team challenge and took a few teams over for a mini baker tourney on this stuff. WAY FUN!

Duckpin is pretty cool if you havent tried it. Was able to do it at the Hall of Fame in STL when they had it. Unfortunately it never picked up down in the South but knew it was a bit bigger up North. Not sure how big it is now compared to 20 years ago since a lot has changed in the sport since then.

The difficulty is why true Duck Pin (as well as Candle Pin) allows 3 balls per frame.

I played duck pin bowling in the Philippines in 1973 while a stent in the Navy. We got 3 balls per shot. Was sure fun for a drunken sailor lol. It sure wasn’t string pin, but automatic machines and at least 10 lanes.
@PinoyBowlerGS928 ай бұрын
Glad it wasn't Strings here in the Philippines when it comes with Duckpins because that's not the beauty of flying Ducks and majority of the Duckpin Centers in tne Philippines are Pinboys. Here in Davao City, there's a Duckpin house called Dover Lanes which had 30 Lanes and equipped with the good old Sherman Pinsetters. I need to make another video there soon before something happens in the future.

LMFAO the scotty squad is out here and we got the memo! But hey, you being a huge purple hammer fan, really interested if you throw that and the NU Blue Hammer on a condition that really highlights the similarities or differences on those. IE your recommendation to play the gutter or as far right as possible (will that hold the same for the NU). And also the first ball hooking more than the rest of the shots.

Even duckpins have strings now? A game where flying pins was essential. Even more than when bowling on Bowling lanes. So now we are even trying to take the strings to knock out pins and accept it? Seriously?
@brunsnick16 күн бұрын
This is a recreational game found in bars, hotels and retirement homes.
@Muggel6516 күн бұрын
@@brunsnick yes. But stringpins are taking over even regular bowling. In Germany we have the highest energy prices in the world. The proprietors who are mostly not bowlers change every bowling alley to stringpins bowling. Same thing is happening in the USA it's even sanctioned by the usbc. Biggest fault ever. This will ruin the bowling we used to love. Profit it's all that counts. They don't even make it cheaper they keep the same prices per game even though they save tons of money less electricity, less maitananance, no mechanics. I wonder what the pros in the pba think about that. I saw a interview with belmo he talks about it very wise. It's keeping many bowling centers alive but it will be the end of bowling as we know it
@brunsnick16 күн бұрын
@Muggel65 what percentage of lanes in Germany are currently stringpin? It’s not common here but there will be some that pop up and get converted. It won’t “take over”.

@@brunsnick well, bowling is not so popular in germany as in the US but this makes it even more tragic. All my home centers swapped to stringpins already even the ones who host the highest leagues and competitions. To find a "normal" bowling center i now have to drive 40 miles. Its a matter of time all of them will change. 😢
