In this episode , Cody and I head to Prescott, Arizona in search of technical trails. The granite dells did not disappoint! This is my kind of riding, and this area definitely became my new favorite trail area in Prescott. What do you think, should we have a meetup here?

I found riding both to be really beneficial. The extra traction from a FS to progress on and the efficiency and firm drive of the hardtail as I progress to bigger and harder things. They really work hand in hand in my opinion.

You have found a niche steve with technical climbing as most youtubers want to bomb downhill . What you do is to much work and it takes fitness to accomplish for most . I would think this is the most difficult part of mountain biking and its amazing to see what you and your buddy can do and maybe a bit more for you because you do it on a hardtail . Well done .

Got my Marin San Quentin 3 few weeks ago. Can't wait to take that monster hardtail here. I've taken it to a couple double black trails already, but mostly technical downhills. Nothing against FS, they're beasts, but just something about hardtails to me just can't get enough. True monsters and have really taught me how to really ride and watch wth I do.

On technical downs like this I'm much more comfortable on flat pedals. If your feet are slipping on flat pedals, something is wrong. I definitely recommend a good sticky set of five tens (any of the freerider series) and some good grippy pedals like chesters or one-up composite platforms. The right gear makes + good technique makes an incredible difference with flat pedals. The best riders i know ride flats.

So jealous of you guys as our riding season is starting to wind down here. Do you have any plans on reviewing the new 2021 Honzo (non-ESD). It has some geo updates this year and seems like a good bike/kit at the $1.5k price point. I do not see any videos/reviews for them yet...

yeah, I've been looking into the honzo too, and I haven't come across any reviews on the cheapest model. I've been comparing the honzo to the growler and vtius sentier, all three bikes are really similar, the vitus has better specs and is cheaper, but the honzo and growler 40 have better geo. I'm waiting for his review on the growler 40

@@mitco011 I have the Honzo on order at my LBS but won't have it until January at the earliest. The Vitus is cheaper on paper but with shipping and duties to Canada I don't think it will be. The Growler is a little too agro for me in Ontario... I also heard it feels very heavy/sluggish. The Honzo looks way cooler too... can't wait to get it. Dumb question, but would one want them to be out of metal or plastic? Of course metal is more durable, but I would think this could also eventually damage the frame if it transfers all that force onto it, instead of just the bash guard. I feel a plastic one would be more flexible and absorb the impacts.
