Zimbabwe's Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Minister Professor Jonathan Moyo has told the British Broadcasting Corporation Zimbabwe is far much better than the United Kingdom on democracy.
Speaking to the BBC's Hardtalk anchor Stephen Sackur who appeared to rely on information from one private newspaper and his one-day experience in Zimbabwe, Moyo indicated Zimbabwe is better since it does not have a monarchy like the UK.
He tells the BBC: "Look, it's not like we are a monarchy like you. No. Getting into power here is not by inheritance, it's the people. Power in this country is obtained through a democratic election."
Moyo questioned the British's view of Zimbabwe which he says is shaped by stereotyping.
Professor Moyo said BBC's reportage of Zimbabwe as biased and shaped by stereotype.
Moyo told Sackur that his less than 24-hour stay in Zimbabwe cannot be enough for him to allege that the country is a failing economy due to its leadership and policies.
After being pinned down on lack of freedom of expression Professor Moyo accused the internationally renowned broadcaster of lacking respect for the structures and history of the country.

Most troubling that our Minister of information was really out of his deep during this interview with his political views and where the Country is economically and financially and why people most Zimbadweans fled the Country.

between 11:43 - 12:03 Stephen failed to answer Professor Moyo's comments on missing British citizens. He quickly moves to another question because he is stuck! Stephen also refers to E.U,the U.S. and other Western countries as the "international" community. It means in Stephen's mind non-Western and non-E.U countries are NOT part of the "international" community. Stephen makes a lot of references to US data and statistics as evidence in this discussion. It is a well known fact the U.S. government want a regime change in Zimbabwe. This again shows bias and is poor journalism on his part.

Thabani Moyo it's called money, status and the 'freedom' to do as you please while the rest of the nation burns. Corruption at its worst- if you think about it, these guys are the purest example of why Africa is the craphole that it is. We can't progress or be taken seriously with such childish thinking. Everything about African leadership is so small-minded, so narrow, so selfish, so mundane, so personalised that there is no room for others who may even have better thought. Mugabe, Moyo, Mnangagwa, .... all of them- just children of the devil.

From a political angle (not looking at what is right or wrong) with very little defense , i think he did a good job. Shielded his party, never spoke ill of his rival (ED) and left their battle for the political field were he openly insulted him,... in short he just did what needed to be done with very little tools and in my view he did it well...if we are just looking at political strategies and excluding what would have Jesus done missions kkkk.

tpasi2020UG they only allow certain foreign journalists because they are trying to represent themself as a good gvt so they can go begging but for a national journalist they will not allow them to ask any questions or even meet with them. Have you ever seen journalists gathered waiting for mugabe to speak or any of his useless ministers- never! they don't want the truth to get out, period!!!

Prof Moyo as an individual, is a good debater, hands down..... If one is an OBJECTIVE judge, one can see a good player of the game, even if he is playing for the opposite team. Issues aside, this is a nice debate.
