I realize this is an old post, but for other visitors: Harley rocker arms pivot on a pin. Toward the end of the pin there is a notch cut in it to accommodate the bolt that secures the rocker assembly AND the pin to keep it from sliding - simple elegant design. However, the cutout is a little more scooped out than the diameter of the pin, so on many Harleys you will hear that "chatter" as the rocker arms are swinging up and down from normal motor operation ... And that makes the pin "think tink tink" against that bolt. A company solved this issue with Rocker Lockers, where you slide a copper tube down in the bolt hole, holi g the pin in place AND filling that gap. No more "tink tink tink" thousands of times a minute.

I have the same crap noises going on with my 2009 Road King. I agree, don't worry, be happy and ride the crap out of it. Great attitude dude! Love it.

My 103 in.³ has a habitual ticking noise, I became hyper sensitive to this, Started to obsess about it. Thanks !! for the video,definitely not going to take it to the dealership where they will keep the bike for a month and try to hit a homerun. Ride safe brother.

Another update: The bike has over 60k on it and my buddy still rides it everywhere with zero issues.

A sure way to get folks to watch the whole video is to not start the bike at all when filming when you have a title like that. My 103 ran fine when I had it.

Just a little update without having to make an update video: I put another 13k miles on the bike and sold it to a friend and he’s put a ton of miles on it as well and neither of us have had to do anything to the bike. It stills runs great and that’s after I rode it hard for all those miles. I never rode it easy, balls to the wall everywhere I went on it.

My ticking seems to go away when I remove the windshield...🤣🤣

Check your compensator, and tensioners on primary, and cam chain.

I love the attitude, sometimes that's the best approach. Some shit just sou ds different then other.. ( new stuff vs older design)

Get rocket lockers. Look it up. I had the same problem so I had it installed and now sounds great. All 103s have this prob.

Amen brother, mine does the same thing and it drove me nuts until I realized it was just normal lol😂. Does your primary make a slight whine in lower gears too?

this is why I ended up with a vtx 1300s start it ride it don't have to freak out like I did with the noise like I did with my roadking.

Yeah I hear you 2005 15th anniversary Fatboy 95-in cubic head same here, worse after having Andrew 37G cams, high flow fueling camp plate and oil pump, adjustable push rods It sounds like a 350 Chevy small block.cha, cha,cha,cha.... But like you guys said it runs like an MF, sometimes catches up to itself might have to adjust the clutch

My 2016 FLHTK rattles on the back end of the bike. I did not use to do this.

My 2013 103 with only 3,400 miles makes awful sounds. like I've got no oil in it. I was so concerned I wanted to go hear other 103s. I wish I just heard the sound of the pipes but No! You can hear everything, the lifters, the pistons, the damn pressurized air pushing threw it. It honestly sounds horrible. I feel like its going to brake down on me all the time and maybe even throw a rod and just explode between my legs. lol So far so good. only time will tell.

I just bought a 2013 road king with a 103 motor sounds just like all that is described. Keep on obsessing that I made a mistake with this purchase. I bought a two year warranty with the bike. I guess I’ll just drive the shit out of it and see what happens. Lol

Anyone finds a sure fire solution will be wealthy. Quietest i have had mine now is with adjustable rods at about 120 thou... rocker lockers didn't do anything.. oh, ear plugs work great too. Not that my bike is loud, wind noise kills me for a week...i try to say just ride it, but it bugs the shit out of me
