Hallo, you cool people! Here is the unboxing of the brand new Harley Benton TE-69TL Hot Rod.
Oh man, this is a great guitar! In this video I also give some sounds through my Marshall JVM410H.
Signal chain:
HB TE-69 - Marshall JVM410H - Torpedo Captor - Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 - Cubase Pro 11 - Marshall 1960A IR
The reverb comes from the amp. No further post-preocessing.
If you have any questions (mainly guitar-related) just leave a comment or call me. You can find my number at the subscribe-button. Just joking.
Have a great day!

Looks and sounds amazing and I'm not judging only by your video, but it also arrived here and I spent all day playing with it. It sounds even better than the TE90FLT which for me was my best sounding HB Tele so far!! Didn't need to do much on it, just fine tuned the intonation and raised the low E string a bit. Ooh, and half turn of the truss rod, as it was too flat for my likings. I am curious as to why people call it a piece of shit. It's not too heavy, mine is 3.6 kg, and the hole on top gives such a nice sheen to the sound, it's almost like magic fairy dust 🙂

Nice review! Thanks for showing a proper review so early, that humbucker provides a lot of tonal variety. Fresh strings always need a fair bit of stretching, but otherwise this is a proper rock n roll machine. Cheers, man!

I love mine!! Great unboxing video. Love your sense of humour. Like many guitars, there is always a little something that could be improved. Nothing major though. I am patiently waiting for a Harley Benton '72 tele thinline II model. I think with all of their improved quality that they could manage a version of my favourite tele. What do you all think?

It's a keeper😁😎 Muss erst mal Zeit dafür nehmen und vorallem spielen....🎸🎸🎸 Danke !🎸🤘🎸

Yeah, totally agree! The only issue (if considered as one) is the laquer on the inner edge of the f-hole. Otherwise it's a good guitar :)

My only criticism of HB guitars is the thickness of their finishes, an aesthetic I don't like. You would think that using less poly would slightly increase their profit margin, help avoid QC issues, and make their guitars look less "budget" at the same time. Oh well, the ones I've payed work just fine.

how does it compare with the TE62 you demoed some weeks ago? which bridge pick up you prefer? I've already read here TE62 is lighter in weight!
@struppmann.
@struppmann. Жыл бұрын
The necks have the same measurements. One with the maple, the other one with laurel fretboard. Pickup-wise I prefer the TE-69. The bridge PU is not as bright as the one in the TE-62. And I also prefer the heavier weight and the natural finish, just more to my liking. But the TE-62 is my go-to travel-guitar, because it's easy to carry, uncomplicated to set-up and instant good tones.

Dont care for the tone at all for a tele. Id far prefer a single coil n the bridge with a mini humbucker or full sized humbucker in the neck. How is the guitar routed for the neck pup?

I decided to send mine back. after a second try after I packed it up already and unpacked it again.... still cant get any sounds out of it that I like... the guitar is amazing BUT the sound is not. it seems so un-present and lacks mids and bass from the bridge hum bucker. just sounds like an ultra scooped pickup.. would love to keep it but if I swap the pickup in the bridge I wonder if it really will make much difference... cant fault the build and quality at all, flawless..looks beautiful, not heavy, neck beautiful... its a shame as i wanted to keep it but if I swap pickups and it sounds the same, I cant send it back...

@@struppmann. Tnx a lot for your answer. 3.8 is not bad but the 3 kgs of the TE-62 are amazing. In the end I'll go for the ST-62 for a change, hopefully still in the 3kgs range. My previous guitar was a MIM Fender Telecaster and it was 4.7 kgs. I totally gave up on alder bodies. All the best.

it is heavy like hell, mine is 3.85kg total, imho, not a real thinline, not a real hot rod, my te62xx was around 3.1kg, all solid wood. tone chamber are small, only single coil routing in the neck. under the pickguard is mostly wood. sorry, Struppmann, thanks for the review, think thomann should tell you better the truth about the te69. - no Lighweight -

Hi Jorge! My guitar is 3.8 kg / 8.3 lbs, too. So pretty heavy. So I'm with Jörg: If you want a light-weight T-style guitar, go for the TE-62 which is around 3.0 kg / 6.1 lbs :)

@struppmann.
@struppmann. Жыл бұрын
Hi, it's not light-weight as you would expect from a thinline guitar, but not as heavy as a LP. All in all it is a heavy ash body with a weight-reducing routing as a f-hole. Don't buy it if you like only light guitars :)

@@struppmann. thanks a lot for your prompt reply! I don’t think it matters, although I have grabbed a Squire thin line and it was really light and I own a Starcaster, which is also light and it is pleasant. My other guitars weight rather normal, a 25th anniversary HB Strat, a HB 60 Tele. But I also own the legendary and great Yamaha SG2000s, I have bought it back in the eighties, which is really heavy! But a great sound, I would dare, greater then a Les Paul's. * Apropos, from your accent I would suggest you are German. I am living since three years in Germany, close to Aachen.

Hi Dizzy!

Is this something you would recommend?
@struppmann.
@struppmann. Жыл бұрын
Difficult. I can not recomment it if you are espacially looking for a thinline guitar. Therefore it's too heavy and the chamber under the f-hole is too small in my opinion. If you are looking for a affordable, good sounding and very well playable T-style guitar with some versatile PUs: full recommendation as long as the weight is not an issue for you.

Yeah, that was a bit confusing: the HB-website says single-coil, thomann website says stacked humbucker. And: the german thomann website doesn't mention the push/pull-switch, but as soon as you switch to english it is mentioned.

Useful but the is not a true f hole guitar as the only the area immediately adjacent to the f hole is routed. So this is not a chambered guitar as it should be but just a TE52 with a minimal f hole route.. Pretty naughty of HB really. The f hole is purely aesthetic.

Maybe, but I guess it's more because of the little chamber unter the f-hole. I'll try to cover this in an upcoming video. Then we're gonna see the chambering under the pickguard, too. In terms of pick-ups: to me the bridge-PU sounds good and overall there is a better tonal balance between bridge and neck PU compared to the TE-62.

This guitar looks fantastic, unfortunately the sound is below "average". This can be heard on a "clean" without an amplifier. Pity. Something is "wrong" with this guitar ... or I'm wrong and it would be appropriate to put on new strings and that would change something?

Hi Michael! The stock strings are fine - no complaints. Maybe the guitar sounds a bit odd because of the room mic? It's a different recording situation compared to the amplified sounds. To me the guitar sounds good in the room, even unamped :)

I have one. Paid $270 for it new in Tbilisi, Georgia. I paid $1400+ for a USA Fender tele with noiseless pickups. Honestly...side by side, blindfolded...the HB fools you. Fender feels better, looks better, way better hardware... is beautiful. HB plays easy and (sometimes) sounds like it has a warmer tone. I'm serious. I didn't expect it, and don't really want to admit it. HB did something pretty impressive with this. I even find myself picking it up over the Fender sometimes, surprisingly. It's heavy, but whatever. Sounds great. Not sure what this says about the Fender shop, or the HB shop.
