Who buys those guitars without buying a set of EMG pickups to put them in? EMG pickups do not need to connect the ground to the bridge to avoid noise. I thought that was like that in all active pickups, I don't know why the stock active pickups that Harley Bentons come with do need that ground connection to the bridge to avoid noise.

Greetings from Portugal, my friend. Questions: 1. How does the neck feel? I’ve seen a video where the guy said it was a bit thick (he was comparing it to the neck of a Jackson js22). 2. How do you feel about the 5-way switch being so far from pickups? Thanks in advance 😉

I love mine!! Great unboxing video. Love your sense of humour. Like many guitars, there is always a little something that could be improved. Nothing major though. I am patiently waiting for a Harley Benton '72 tele thinline II model. I think with all of their improved quality that they could manage a version of my favourite tele. What do you all think?

I decided to send mine back. after a second try after I packed it up already and unpacked it again.... still cant get any sounds out of it that I like... the guitar is amazing BUT the sound is not. it seems so un-present and lacks mids and bass from the bridge hum bucker. just sounds like an ultra scooped pickup.. would love to keep it but if I swap the pickup in the bridge I wonder if it really will make much difference... cant fault the build and quality at all, flawless..looks beautiful, not heavy, neck beautiful... its a shame as i wanted to keep it but if I swap pickups and it sounds the same, I cant send it back...

Just some another hints - change the pots and tonecap. HB has by default wrong pot values, they used 500K pots (same as on passive guitars) on these active. You need replace all pots with 25K, which are standard values for active pickups. This simple mod will radically reduce the hiss, which is generated by active electronics output, connected into improper impedance. Now, impedance of pickups will be suitable with impedance of rest of guitar electronics. And, you can also suppress the hiss to even lower level, if you connect a small value resistor (about 10k) between middle pin of volume pot and wire, which was originally soldered into this middle pin. This will suppress hiss also when pot is open to full volume, because active circuit has limited output current, so it will generate significantly less of noise, even on high gain settings. After these two mods, you will got really quiet guitar, nice clean sound, and more detailed drive without flabby bass strings, and with precise reaction to pick hit even on lower notes. HBZ are not bad pickups, but they need sorted out rest of electronics, for squeeze the best from them.

@michalkysel4351
@michalkysel4351 8 ай бұрын
Yes, no problem. Just one more thing - yesterday I tried replace resistor from central pin of pot to lower values - 2,2k instead of 10k. It sounds definitely better. It will supress hiss, when you open pot to full, but output level drop is not noticeable.

I don’t think it matters, although I have grabbed a Squire thin line and it was really light and I own a Starcaster, which is also light and it is pleasant. My other guitars weight rather normal, a 25th anniversary HB Strat, a HB 60 Tele. But I also own the legendary and great Yamaha SG2000s, I have bought it back in the eighties, which is really heavy! But a great sound, I would dare, greater then a Les Paul's. * Apropos, from your accent I would suggest you are German. I am living since three years in Germany, close to Aachen.
