The reason for this is that they cant tell how the bike is going to take of.. Would not be the man laying in the snow with one of those tiers on me ;P And you need to have this in your mind, it is a new event in X-Games, so they didnt have the time to prepare it well enough :)

The frames are actually modified quite a bit, but they try to make them look as "stock" as possible.

Nitro wouldn't even run unless preheated big time in those temperatures

Obviously completely oblivious of the enormous amount or racing bikes that are built around Harley engines that absolutely dominate the drag racing and hill climb world I guess. I remember when I was a teenager and I though that harleys were dumb and slow. Then I visited a drag racing event for about 10 seconds and learned that they’re extremely popular in serious racing.

My friend had a CR500. It was insanely fast. Out on the dirt flats by the Great Salt Lake was a great place to open it up!

Well you're PRETTY WRONG. I was being VERY kind. The famouse CR500 made only 55hp! The KX500 was the highest hp producing dirtbike ever in production and it made 63hp stock, modified it supposedly made 65hp. Furthermore the HD motors on nitro make above 200whp, I was being conservative. So there ya go, facts on the matter. We have to agree! This event was put together in less than a month.. there are many athletes that were capable of racing it, but given the time period and newness of the event, we understand why they just invited 8 for the TV space available.

Andrew Snyder yea a lot of athletes work their asses off. Train, compete, and earn an invitation. Then they have to qualify and then score better than 8+ opponents. This is a respectable event but it doesn't deserve the same metals.

Harleys have been historically used for hill climbs. The museum in Milwaukee Wisconsin has a whole section on it.
