Hey Michael, I love what you have done with your Sportglide, especially the screen, as I have taken my mini batwing fairing off too as I like to ride uncluttered but for long distance that screen will be awesome I reckon. I also like think your new Saddleman rack bag is a must have for me also down the track. The new floor boards look cool 😎 too & will be very useful for touring for you as well. Can't wait for the road test on all these new goodies.👍 Cheers mate.☕️

I’m headed out to WV on my Sportglide tomorrow to get a taste of some longer touring than I’ve done so far. Should be about a 7-10 Hour turnaround point from my PA res. I kept the mini fairing and put on a slipstreamer 10” screen, your screen looks great, I also put a Shad 40 top box on the rear using the Harley two up docking system, so I have extra storage, I also put on the Kuryakyn floor boards , wrinkled black. Pretty neat I also changed the front indicators to LED and smoked lenses, I ordered the LEDs online and no need to rewire, you just need a load resistor the indicators flash normal it’s the the ones on the dash that flash super fast. Oh and I have the Kuryakyn travel bag that I attach with bungies and acts a backrest. Cheers

Well done mate, you done a good job there, like your style and thanks for taking the time to name the different aftermarket parts, it’s nice to know, I’m looking to get a Sportglide myself, as I think it’s the best of both worlds ie: an ideal bike for touring or take the bags off for just a street bike, it’s also 25kg lighter than my current FATBOY S , which is a nice classic bike but heavy, I’m loath to part with it but I might trade for a Sportglide, as I think it would be better for touring as it’s lighter and more manoeuvrable, I have test ridden one and didn’t like the silly batwing fairing nor the forward footrests, so I’m glad to see you sorted both of those things, now I know it can be done which is useful, I already have a spare set of floorboards from my old softail slim I had,so I’m hoping they may fit, I also found I was to far away from the bars so may h@ve to put some 14-16” pullbacks on, but maybe with the running boards it may be ok with the OEM bars, I just hate being hunched over, reaching for the bars, it’s so uncomfortable touring , anyway be interesting to see and hear how you get on with the screen because if it’s too low your head will get buffeted, Anyway thanks for a very interesting vid: it’s given me some inspiration to now take the plunge and buy one, Good luck on your touring, me and the wife are doing France, Belgium,Luxemberg, and Germany, end of June, I’d rather do it on a Sportglide I think, Take care John In Oxford UK .

Hey mate, that's awesome - you're going to love the bike! I'll post prices in the description later today, just know most of it had to come from America from a couple of different suppliers. So, I got screwed on the dollar, but hey if I can't afford the exchange rate differences anyway - I probably shouldn't be buying 😅 I tried to get most things from RevZilla because they have a low flat rate shipping to Australia and is faster than domestic shipping 😅😅

Bike thoughts: In my opinion with the upgrades you did it just looks like the heritage now (chrome windscreen bags floor boards). But overall happy you’ve made it your own! A few video critiques: Im a huge fan of your cinematic broll but i found myself losing attention after the nearly 3 minute long intro. Id try a 15-20 second intro and then overlay your broll footage when talking about the bike. For example when u talked about the upgrades broll footage closeups of the parts on the bike would’ve been nice to see! Over all great video though, im all here for it!
@TheMotoBarista
@TheMotoBarista 4 жыл бұрын
Hey dude thanks for the video edit feedback, I agree, going to apply that next time for sure 👌 Yeh, the bike is similar to the Heritage, a bike I really like, but I don't think simply a windscreen and boards makes it look like a Heritage. Completely different shape and colour screen and size/shape boards. I actually pulled up next to a new Heritage yesterday and just thought how much I prefer my style as opposed to the stock Heritage look. Thanks for watching dude and again thanks for the feedback!
@BrandonBicasso
@BrandonBicasso 4 жыл бұрын
Adding to what GenZ said - that intro was good enough to be a seperate video. A bit long for an intro (I get it though and it still looked great) but perfect on its own for a mini movie. Maybe cut some of the pieces out from the full thing and use as a short intro. My two cents. 👌 That said, check your analytics to see what the audience retention is for those video segments. That helped me cut down my cine pieces to not make them as long or at least break them up between moments.
@TheMotoBarista
@TheMotoBarista 4 жыл бұрын
@@BrandonBicasso hey man, yeh thanks for feedback, definitely taking it on board. I think you're right about maybe just making its own thing. I really like the more cinematic style but for informative videos perhaps just drags it out too much. I think I want to go down the direction of trying to create 'mini films' and create almost dramatised creations of my trips etc. But then I need to seperate that from the more informative videos. Will check the analytics for sure, thanks again for watching and the feedback, much appreciated ✌️ and congrats on the 8k subs!
@BrandonBicasso
@BrandonBicasso 4 жыл бұрын
@@TheMotoBarista Sure thing and thanks! You got a great thing going. Your style is unique. I will say, though that the mini films won't get the attention like your informative videos will. (overtime anyway) I'm beginning to treat them as subscriber videos versus being able to bring in new people outside the niche. That said, whatever direction you go with it, you can always use it as b-roll with voice over. You're great at speaking on the topics so the rest is gravy.

Hey, no problem, glad this could help some way! @@TheMotoBarista Thanks for the reply. I agree with your comments about the windshield. I knew that wind management was something I was going to have to figure out when I bought the sports glide. In my case I liked the way the fairing attached. I like the Memphis Shades products but I wanted to avoid the clips that get attached to the forks so instead I changed out the stock windshield in the fairing for the Klock Werks windshield and extended it with an MRA X-creen touring winglet. This solution has worked great and provides lots of adjustability. Now that I've seen the pictures of the luggage on your bike, I think I going to order it; being able to carry luggage was my prime motivation for adding the sissy bar luggage rack.

Great, informative, ... Hanging out for feedback on the screen. 1. Does it cause head buffeting at highway speed? 2. How tall are you? The original Dyna Switchback Screen caused a wicked vibration of my helmet at 110km/hr. The Memphis Shades Batwing I replaced it with was better, but I wasn't prepared to throw more money into experimenting with screen heights and types. Please provide feedback about the screen at hiway speed.
@TheMotoBarista
@TheMotoBarista 4 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, so I will cover all of this in a future video but for now what I can say is that wind management is far more complex then we first think. I'm 6ft and finally have this windshield dialled into where I like it even at highway speeds. Took my a while of adjusting height on the forks for mounting bracket and then the angle of shield. At first it was awful vibration but now that is all gone. Different helmets have all slight difference performance too. I still get lots of wind on my chest, which I like because it is hot here but could annoy some. No wind pressure on my head or neck though which was priority + reduced noise. For full wind block you would need a fairing and lowers I think. I will go through more in a video but for now I hope this helps!

Great video Michael! I found your channel thanks to a recommendation by D-Moto. I've had my SG for 20 months now and absolutely love her which is saying a lot since I swore I'd never give up my beloved Dyna! It's great finally seeing some of the great customization ideas, there've been too few in my opinion. Quick question for you: is the El Paso windshield adjustable at all? I ask for 2 reasons: 1) I had a great National Cycle windscreen on my Dyna and could adjust it to where the wind flowed perfectly over and around me, unfortunately, they don't make a model that fits an SG. 2) I added a Klockwerks windscreen which does a great job of keeping the buffeting/turbulence off of my head but creates quite an annoying amount up around my chest to my chin. I thought about getting a Road Warrior fairing which I've heard great things about, but I love the way the El Paso looks on your bike. Thanks
@TheMotoBarista
@TheMotoBarista 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Royce, thanks for the comment and glad to hear you found me from D-Cycle's channel - that's awesome! The El Paso is adjustable, lots of angle adjustment, room on the forks to change height plus the shield comes in 4 or 5 different sizes. It took a lot of adjusting but I managed to remove the wind off head and face but still get a lot on the chest - this seems to be coming from the the handlebar area and sides of the tank. I still wanted some wind and I love the look so this is fine for me. However to block more wind maybe look at the Memphis Fats or a Fairing as you suggested. I am hoping to make a video soon about my experience with this windshield! Thanks again and safe riding! ✌️⚡
