As a North supporter, as much as I would have loved to see us get Harley, he was never going to be our sole saviour. Our frontline has never really been the problem, it's been the centre that's kept getting walked over. I just want shit to turn around man...

I beg to differ heavily. I’ve been a crazy north supporter my whole life, and in my opinion our issue is definitely not our centre right now. We have LDU, Simpkin, Wardlaw, Mckercher, Sheezel and Xerri, if anything the only decent thing we have is a mediocre midfield. Our real issue is our defense and backline, we have no real good backmen and lost our last decent one last year to Essendon, also our forward line is shocking, we’re so 1 dimensional and constantly target Larkey that he’s almost always gettting 2v1d by opponents. A lot of work to do before we see any success sadly.

Nothing would have happened. Most of North Melbourne's better positional changes and signings have come after the draft. Harley Reid would have just been as frustrated as every other North player. North's top draft selection should have been the best available tall forward they could get and this hasn't changed.

So given that North and the Hawks are fighting for the wooden spoon this year, it is possible that getting Harley Reid would not have made any difference? In reality it looks like they'll get a few more high first round picks before they move up the ladder.

How do you get Harley on north in the first place and also did you have to manually do the trades or was it automatic

Hmm, with LDU, Reid, McKercher, Sheezel, Powell and Wardlaw rotating through the midfield, I don't think that Baily Smith would be a target. They may be young now, but in three year's time they will be in their prime.

Firstly, North might not win a game at all this year. For a team where wins are so far and few between, that win against the Suns last year might be the only win the youth at North feel for a while so it was highly important. The rest of the competition might not remember it, but the kids at North sure still do, and you need wins like that for self-belief, motivation and persistence. Secondly, you can't compare WCE and North anyway, WCE still have a lot of experienced players that North don't, and were coming off a flag 5 years ago. North also have good picks in McKercher and Duursma, who are going to be great players in their own right in the long term albeit with less hype (which sometimes is better) and a better KPF in Larkey. Thirdly, the main issue at North is their defence. They need KPD's and that's what they should chase in due time.
