Here’s one that’s been a long time coming. The Harley Davidson vrod review. Watch me go over this bike and give some history/descriptions/stories. Feel free to add any input, or details I missed, and I’ll try meet to incorporate them to the ride along video. Thanks for watching! Subscribe for more content!
Correction: I say re-jet when describing fueling because I’m used to carburetors, but high-flow injectors/ re-map is what I meant.

Back in 2004 my first bike was and still is a vrod, after 19 years it still running fine, with a few parts that had to be changed along with the typical maintenance/upkeep. When I bought it HD enthusiast hated it, now that it has been off the market for several years it’s a head turner, get a lot of questions, and lots of people take pics with it a lot more than my friends newer motorcycles. The fact that Porsche worked on it is what attracted me from the very start, vrod represents/symbol for what amazing things harley is capable of producing, but it also represents when people don’t appreciate what they had until it’s gone. The other bike that has caught my attention is the newer fatboy, but I love a lot more what Indian motorcycle got to offer.

Props to you that you got it as a first bike! I honestly think it was engineered to aircraft quality. I still don’t think the importance of it’s engineering has been fully realized and appreciated in the motorcycle world. However, I think it’s gaining tons of momentum. More people ask me what it is today than ever have before.

@@ComfyDadShoestotally agree with you, in Europe the bike is very popular, in fact some of the parts I bought were shipped from Germany because the U.S no longer Carrie’s it. The other company in the U.S that makes parts for it is Fitzgerald motor sports, and their techs specialize in this bike too, if you ever have an engine problem or need good upgrades they are the place to go.

HD V-Rod is my first bike, and i love it., as far as being a dangerous first bike tag it has, this could be said for any motorcycle that goes past 50 MPH. its all about the rider and his use of throttle.

Just bought a 2003 vrod as my first bike. Been great to ride and low center of gravity makes it pretty easy and comfortable. Have not pushed it yet but will take it easy for the time being. Just looks so great and is a real dime piece.

Thank you! I hope I did it justice. I’m going to consider keeping it as my winter bike and adding a windscreen after I sell my voyager. I’m struggling with temptation because of all these new middleweight ADV’s. My DR650 is my daily, but these damn transalps and vstrom 800’s are all over my YT feed lol.

This HD V-ROD is the best owner friendly bike for do it yourself maintenance and it is also a not so heavy bike if a rider has back and leg issues . This bike has beautiful curves , so sexy it turns heads and comes in gorgeous colors. To clean the wheels you buy a wheel cleaner that does not polish but removes old grease . This bike is not made for long trips it is made for weekend, city country rides. FJR1300 now that's a bike very comfortable whether city riding or long distance it is great and the hard saddle bags you can store quite a bit Fjr would be without a doubt my favorite choice specially with the large gas tank

If there was a DM feature on KZfaq, I would send you photos of my 14 FJR that I regretfully sold. My greatest regret, besides selling it, was not documenting my ownership of it on KZfaq. I’m strongly considering finding one again…. Should my lower back issues resolve.

There's one reason and one reason alone I prefer the older Revolution over the new Revolution Max (Pan Am, Sporty S, Nightster.) The RevMax sounds absolutely terrible and the Revolution doesn't. A few things did change over the years, most notably the 1250cc engine as you mentioned which was debuted in the screaming eagle/CVO, then moved to the regular Rods after they transitioned to the 240 rear. The 2007 is the only model year with the 240 and the 1130cc, which makes it the slowest V-Rod to date (not hugely noticeable, but still an anecdote.) The ergos were changed slightly in the 2012s and up, making the reach a little less radical. Eventually they got a bigger gas tank too. Most everything else over the years is cosmetic.
@ComfyDadShoes
@ComfyDadShoes Жыл бұрын
I haven’t heard the revmax, but I appreciate the additional knowledge. I’m guessing the heavier 240 needed more guts to push it with the 07’? Thank you very much for checking out the video!
@stevem4783
@stevem4783 Жыл бұрын
@@ComfyDadShoes Yeah, the 240 rear was the justification for the change to the 1250 permanently. They say the 1130 bikes on the 180 rear are still a hair quicker than the 1250cc ones on the 240, but it's probably an unnoticeable difference. I also forgot to mention the newer ones got updates like ABS and inverted forks. V-Rods are funny...like most things, it wasn't fully appreciated until it was out of production, now six years later people wax poetic about how it was the best bike Harley ever built, you never heard anything like that around 2017 and earlier. The RevMax may look similar to the Revolution on a spec sheet, but it has a 30 degree offset crank, making it fire more like a 90 degree Ducati. It's...disappointing sounding (IMO, of course, that thing's always subjective.) If you're bored, check out some exhaust comparisons between V-Rods and the new Pan Ams, Sporty Ss, and Nightsters. Big time difference.

@@stevem4783 perfectly said about the attitude back in 2017. That’s the year I got my v-rod and I remember opinions being very split, much different than today. I do want to see a Pan-Am in person, but I get what you’re saying about the l-twin

For the sundowner install, turn the key all the way back to lift the rider seat. They should have slides if I remember correctly. It’s been six years since I did it. The passenger pillion should unbolt. I’ll double check this for you when I can take a minute to look.

LoL, actually, if I let you have a similiar year, even an 07 Rocket 3..you would most likely tie with me in my 07 Nightrod at 11.2 (in a quarter). and if I brought my 98 BMW K1200RS well, I would be right there too but yet the Beemer was built 9 years earlier! And let us not forget the differences in displacement, and my RS will outhandle either one of them street or track.. Thanks for shopping at Dave's World! :-) And as always, TCRS! Cheers!
