I've always wanted a V-Rod, the ultimate Harley, power, looks, an engine designed with Porsche... so when a clean title one popped up for thousands less than I've ever seen one sell before I bought it in a heartbeat. This 2002 Harley-Davidson VRSC has had a very rough 34,000 mile life and it shows. Almost everything is broken or hurt except the motor and boy, oh boy does that engine run. Not a hint of vibration, after 20 years on the road, and it still makes good power. I'm going to save this old muscle bike and make it safe and as close to OEM+ as it can be.

Thank you for wearing a full helmet. I am sure there are some whom will lambast me for saying it. However there was a fatal motorcycle accident (only his vehicle) in town recently where the rider was only wearing a half helmet and his face was completely gone. Arguably he may have survived given the lack of other obvious injuries. Who knows. At least give yourself a chance.

I wouldn't be surprised if the difficulty in shifting simply came from the fact that your shifter was adjusted so poorly. Farting around with my old '82 Yamaha XJ650 I adjusted my shifter up pretty high because I have big feet and the notoriously finicky 2nd gear became even more finicky because it took more pressure from my foot to get there due to the angle. I lived with the slightly lower foot on the left side because it prevented me from missing second and accidentally hitting neutral when really hammering on it for some fun (which still happened much to my dismay)

A buddy of mine bought a 1995 Fatboy used from a dealership many years ago. The rear brake was crap so he tried several times to bleed it with no success. Finally he purchased a hand pump oil Dispenser, filled it with brake fluid and hooked the hose to the bleeder nipple on the rear caliper. We emptied the reservoir and he started reverse bleeding the system forcing fluid in from the caliper end. So much junk just poured out of the line into the reservoir. After a few pumps the fluid came in clear. Rear brake worked fine after that. Those mirrors definitely fit the bike. As for the rust on the running lights. The Previous owner of my 05' Softail purchased a kit to move my running lights from the handle bars to the forks to fit a windshield. The retaining bolts have rusted the same way and it is definitely a Harley part.

It was and still is the most beautiful bike that I have ever seen. I fell in love with it then and would love to own one one day myself. The bike was there inside Peabody's for several months before the raffle and whenever I went when it was there, I just stared at the thing. It was truly a work of art.

Not exactly a all weather bike but great for ocassional "sunday" ride in sunny weather. But a real joy to ride and looks great.

There was a car building show in the early 2000's, I don't recall which one it was, but they were building a car and the main guy went on and on for a couple weeks worth of episodes about how he had some super cool paint job planned for this car and it was going to be unlike anything anyone had ever seens before. It was flames. He unironically hyped up a flame paint job as something super cool and unique. It was just terrible.

Look to see if there is a adjustment screw on the clutch cable. If there is that could fix whatever issues you are having. If no adjustment screw, then you might have to replace the cable. If motorcycle tires are 5 or more years old, it's always good to replace them. The dry rotting is what takes it's toll on them and will cause a blow out. Also definitely going to want to take a really close look at the drive belt as well. Ever since you put out the first video about this bike, the algorithm in my feed has been nothing but videos about this model... Lol

I have a 2003. If your boot has any pressure on the shifter, it won’t like shifting into gear, so keep your foot off the shifter between gear changes and you won’t miss a shift. Also this bike comes alive after 5.5k rpm. Mine looks just like yours. The new tires will change everything-I have the Avon Cobras. Also, toss it into a corner sometime-steering weight aside you’ll be surprised how much lean angle the VRSCA has. You’re not having fun until past 5.5k rpm. Love the v rod!!:)

Save money? You don’t buy a Harley to save money. You can get aftermarket parts, but, do they fit or are they any good. Aftermarket foot pegs/ mirrors are fine but engine parts, not so much & not worth the risk. About bleeding, I would unbolt and elevate the slave as much as possible. Give it one pump with the screw open to move any air in the line to the slave, then with the bleed hole as high as possible, press in on the slave to get the air out, then replace the screw before it sucks any air back in. HD might dunk the slave in a pot of brake fluid when bench bleeding to prevent air through the bleed port. Maybe not but I bet they had some trick to prevent service issues.

Harley developed the motor, it's based off their VR1000 race engine. They utilized some Porsche input on making it more livable and some stuff with the liquid cooling, more of a consultant thing than a co-development. Honestly maybe the best engine they've ever made, super reliable & hard to kill, sounds great, smooth, makes good power (it's a decent number now, let alone 20+ years ago when they came out.)

A really good (and cheap) alternative for metal polish/cleaner: Bar Keeper's Friend has a spray cleaner that does AMAZING things for chrome and other plated surfaces as well as bare metals like brass and German silver (nickel silver). The best thing is, it's non-abrasive, so you won't get swirl marks on polished/lacquered surfaces. I even use it on the wheels of my cars... it just melts brake dust but doesn't hurt the finish.

Clutch plates are wearing, I think that's why it slightly drages forward. Fluid stops getting in-between the plates as well and they start sticking together. Could be wrong though, just a suggestion?

Regarding the dent in the air filter cover could you use a heat gun and canned air to pull some of it out?

Nice bike...but that Mach 1, would love to see more of that! I see you mentioned that it was in for detailing...contact the owner and see if you can do a video about it...it's a classic car! And the star of one of my favourite book series, the SERRAtted Edge books by Mercedes Lackey. SERRA stand for South East Road Racing Association, totally fictional. But it's a series about Elves running a racing team using race cars with only Non-ferrous metals. The main character, Tannim, a human who drives a Mach 1 that has been upgraded with racing suspension and a bunch of other mods, but looks stock from the outside. The Elve's race car engineering company, Fairgrove Industries, has as part of its entrance a stop light, and a measured distance and automatic timer for it that displays the time in the building. Anyways, if you like Urban Fantasy, Elves (in malls!) and Cars...this is the series for you!

I caught that, too. You hardly ever see Mach 1s in the wild and that is a beautiful one in the perfect color. I sure hope he makes a video or two on it……. And that it’s a 4-speed.

Would you please give some details and close-ups on the '69 Mach 1 that was in the background of this video?

You left those large o rings on the throttle bodies at the top...you need to push them down to the base...they are there as a failsafe so that the 3 bolts don't get sucked in to the throttle bodies
