Hey, yes, also glad to see you back. I’m wondering about identifying the different varieties? The one I have maybe the red? The flower stems have quite a red tinge to them. I’ve used the flowers for quite a few years and gave some berries to a friend to make wine, which was glorious. If I eat the berries raw they give me a little nausea. Here in southern Australia the native one is a white berry and grows quite small. I haven’t used it. Love your work 🙂

@@ianonley65 I'm not familiar with one that grows a white berry. You may be able to find some info on it online. The big difference in the blue and the black is the shape of the flower sets. They all come to the same place on top, looking more like a shield on top. where as the red ones are shaped more like a cone.

❤❤❤ I drank 250 ml of Elderberry cough and cold remedy in the past 24 hours. Things are moving and improving. My whole self was literally asking for more on all levels which makes sense on all levels as where I'm currently at. These blessings are all around us. A few years ago I made homemade Elderberry Syrup and a friend concocted a beautiful Elderberry Cordial. I've not had to use antibiotics for along time and I'm praying that what ever is in my lungs and ear move out by tomorrow or antibiotics are a must. I've been doing all the things so we will see. I love how you mentioned take us into the dark, I didn't know that. Also she is an Elder of berries so I love her for being here. And she's gorgeous too! ❤️❤️❤️

I'm so happy you're making vids again. My journey with Elder began shortly after my bestest friend died in the spring of 2020. an elderberry appeared near my front door. It wasn't there, nothing was there(previous owners piled concrete blocks, stones in that area), and then suddenly, this large, lively, majestic plant was draping the front door of my home. I didn't know what it was but was drawn to it& compelled to save it from harm so I forbade hubby&lawn people from cutting her. This is when I saw your vid & the picture looked like my newly gifted tree plant. We have the cadensis variety & you taught me about her antiviral properties. I made a syrup(yumyum). Fast forward to present times that little tree is thriving. she gifted me two more babies in places where the garden desperately needed shade. She(&mugwort) accompanied me through a dark night of the soul. Here I am now, transformed. Thank you, herbal jedi. Love to you, your famfam, your friends. You're much appreciated.

So what I did was harvest the berries and I kept them on the vine and I brought them indoors, and I let them finish their development off the vine and slowly dry up. When the berries were completely dry, I waited. I waited till around December 1 and then I planted 27,000 berries in individual pots I do have them growing right now they take a long time they’re very slow. I will be patient with them but I also will be preparing their next size pot because they are like a hermit crab. They always need a new shell Until they finally go into the ground permanently somewhere

That is a specialty cultivar that has been bread for its beauty. I have not had any experience personally with golden Elder. I did have a quick search on line though and found this info for the species: "The berries, high in antioxidants, are edible only if cooked. Uncooked berries can induce illness." So I would say you should be fine making a syrup with the berries of that one.

Thanks for your comment and thoughts on offerings. I agree that at the roots of a plant is the best place for an offering. I did leave an offering at the base of the stem in this case, just also on the flower stock for a visual. Also catching some of the libations in my cup after the initial offering was me being playful, which is not to protocol of how I normally would do that.

@@markmcarthy596 You are in err. Colossians 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. 19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; 20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

Only the roots and stems are poisonous. The leaves have the most medicine do your research better. You are correct about the red berries though.

Is it anthraquinones, not anthocyanins? Anthocyanins are the pigments in fruits like bilberry (and probably Sambucus nigra, the BLACK elderberry).

Are those red elderberry plants? We have a lot of red berry elderberries around Bellingham, WA and I worry that these are very toxic.
