Great show again, guys! 👍 I've been using a self-made harness, similar to the DK Solo but even more minimalistic since end of 2020, and I always use it, no matter the conditions. As mentioned in the comments definitely in cold weather it helps you recover from the extra energy loss, but also in (too) light winds, when you need to do a lot of pumping to get going, it has its value as you can recover from the pumping. I use it with a Naish Mono line, works great. Greetings from Tenerife (35+ knots today 😉)!

when to use a harness.....I think a big difference is lake-based versus ocean-based wingers. If you wing on the ocean, and spend time surfing waves/swells, then you get good moments of rest for hands/arms while you surf. For those people (like me) who spend a lot of time on lakes, then you are riding powered almost all the time, and then the harness becomes really valuable. The other thing is the weather - if you ride in colder spots, and need gloves, then hand/arm pump is far worse and so once again, a harness is great. I have the WP waist band/hook which is OK, but not as good as these. I'm ordering the dakine now....thanks! keep the videos coming.

Tajima Direct lenses are great! I have been using them for years. You did not mention another reason for a small harness. It is very convenient to hook to the board and the wing quickly and you do not need to get tangled around the wrist or ankle.

Not convinced, lol, the hook being able to slide back and forth on the belt. At least in the George, could be a factor. I'd say it's close to right, ill hold off for the updated version. Cool.

Great info, love you guys. I have a mantis and am just trying to figure out where to attach lines. I was bummed because i could not see that in your on-water shots. So there are 2 handles and the 4 connection points are on each side of the handles. Where do you attach? on the handles or connection points? Thanks!

I've had some wipeouts in highwind when harnessed in and I ended up having to undo the harness to unhook. Was afraid of damaging boom. Does the flat hook on these harnesses make it easier to unhook in wipeout where everything is super tight?

Hi Damien, I was wondering, why are there no spreader bars on wing harnesses? Is it something you miss when using them? Thanks!
@DamienLeroyYouTube
@DamienLeroyYouTube 2 жыл бұрын
Reason is, you usually are laying on the board climbing to your knees, so the spreader bar would be putting holes in your wing board. Reason why the DAKINE hooks fold.

Hey Damien, I love your videos, they really help gathering insights. I was wondering what you think about inflatable wing foil boards? Do you have experience with them? What is important when buying an inflatable? Thanks in advance. Please keep up the great work! Yours, Sebastian
@DamienLeroyYouTube
@DamienLeroyYouTube 2 жыл бұрын
Basti, Great question we get it a lot. Honestly the reason for the inflatable is to travel easy and have some nice volume or float for ease of use. The down side can be a little sticky to the water. They can have a little bounce to it like a raft and sometimes can be not as stable. Saying that there are lots that love them so it's more of a personal preference. I would look at some reviews on some inflatable boards and get a good breakdown for your decision. If you are not really buying to travel with it, I believe a regular board performs better.
@obvioustrash7833
@obvioustrash7833 2 жыл бұрын
Like damien said, if you are not going to travel a lot with it then get a non inflatable board as they perform better (this doesnt mean inflatables are far worse if you buy the right one). Downsides of inflatable boards are that the constant in and deflation and slightly less responsive. The latter can be fixed by a carbon plate under the board around the foil mount which makes it feel a lot more responsive. This is also the answer to your question, if you want an inflatable board buy one with a carbon plate at the bottom. If you want one as soon as possible I would recommend a sky wing air premium if you want the best stuff out there (though it comes with a hefty price tag) or if youre looking for a board thats still good but affordable probably a gong hipe or like a naish. Might want to wait a little bit for brands to release their new inflatable boards because i have a feeling we will see a bunch soon

I have the Fanatic Air Supreme Premium 5'8" 120L inflatable and LOVE IT. It releases from water well, is much more nimble than my F-One 6' carbon and travels easily in the Fanatic travel bag. It also doesn't ding AT ALL. It also has straps Mackiteboarding has a video of Tucker dropping an inflatable. He says, can't do that with a solid board. No kidding!! I've dropped mine numerous times. Not a scratch.

How often does the wind work in Jupiter? 2x a week, 2x a month? Also, how much swell do you get? I lived Deerfield down south for some time and it was flat more than not. Just trying to get a feel for the conditions on average.
@DamienLeroyYouTube
@DamienLeroyYouTube 2 жыл бұрын
Friend it is similar but we do get a little Seabreeze on south winds that kicks in, that is always stronger. Jupiter will always have more swell, if there is any out there as you are blocked by the Bahamas down there. FYI

Hey guys, nice duo act😎 on the point of Harness, A I can’t see these two on the Damien web page yet but hopefully soon. I am wondering if as there is less pressure on the wing and arms when foiling, we would not have a harness with a higher hooking point around the pecs like we had in the ‘80s . After all we trying to relief the tension on our firearms and a bit on the biceps but we are not trying to be relieved of our weigh and thus need not to be hooked on from as low as the belly button, so clipping from a pants belt height level does not seem to make a lot of sense either. If one was to consider Wingfoilers specific needs, one could also combine and impact vest and “arms relief hook” All in One ! What do you think and would DaKine consider offering if on the market? And yes a vest harness does look good, protect your vitals and you can pack your

On the contrary, the lateral slide allows for ones torso to rotate and the wing to move in order to maintain the wind capture if one is going toe-side for instance. Frankly, coming aboard a comment section and calling it junk it a bit suspect....
