i have 72 ...Wing foil is better than windsurf for my knees. But no good for my shoulders. Have fun too

What About renting a beginnersset. Like for x weeks. As Soon as you are able to make your first flights, then purchase your gear?
@DamienLeroyYouTube9 сағат бұрын
That's a great idea, but not sure if renting is cost effective or available at many places. If it is, then that's the best option for sure!

So can wing foil without changing the mass? The reason ask is I planned on getting a efoil then later get a wing using an efoil with a folding prop until I get wing foiling down. Then buy a mass or whole new wing foil set up

First and foremost, kudos to you for explaining how to do wing onpaddle board. It’s the most clear concise explanation I’ve ever heard. I will totally use my paddle board first. All these steps will help me concentrate on managing my kite at this time. Most of all any videos you made in the past is very interesting just to listen to your French accent!! It adds to the likeness of video. Thanks again.

The 130x- turns like surfv2 100 and glides like the ha120 with the lift of the 200. I love it. It’s literally the most stable small foil I have rode, in a turn and gliding flat from bump push, is just something you have to ride to believe. I’m 150lbs and was riding the Florence tail. Honestly will go with a bigger carve or flow tail. I’m not at the level for all the negative shim on the Florence tail.

low aspect will be good for sup?
@DamienLeroyYouTube2 күн бұрын
All depends, it can roll over better side to side with less wing span, but high aspect will have a little more glide! The industry is slowing evolving to the high aspect. As we did this video 3 years ago.

I wonder how effective these wings would be for someone that weighs 85kg plus? I really doubt it would lift us up.
@akelly19833 күн бұрын
Matt weighs 195 pounds/88kgs. Factoring in swell power and conditions obviously makes a big difference as well.
@DamienLeroyYouTube3 күн бұрын
It can 100% lift you up but there are a lot of factors in play!

I've come to realise high aspect is not everything, for my weight I need area too. High aspect doesn't help for tight turns, you have to always keep your speed up unless the profile is thick too. And still, not friendly to tight turns. And yet I see similarities to my latest foil design too. Thin all over, similiar centre anhedral. But getting the stiffness in my one from a bit more chord, more centre to tip taper. The one in this vid looks like it really needs the high modulus but the taper is also good to concentrate the loading more in the centre, tip breaches shouldn't be a problem.

I see new sizes of the AFS WhiteBird on your website. How do they compare with other downwind boards of similar size?
@DamienLeroyYouTube4 күн бұрын
The bigger sizes Whitebird are specifically designed for beginner DW SUP foilers with stability being the main focus. So for someone looking to learn the sport, those are great options!

Enjoyed the episode! I have a long history windsurfing/kiting, but always good to remember the basic stuff which we take for granted and is now natural instinct! Great points on beginners learning how wind directions work and how to read the texture of the water and how to read swell/waves/conditions! LMAO, on Damien's "walk of shame" comments, no matter how good we think we are, we all still end of there! 🤣

Yep you have walked for sure as well, from the sound of it... :) Ahhhhh.

I think a mountain board is a cheap and safe alternative to a ham board to practice on land for a beginner. It is more forgiving, i.e potentially less responsive than a skateboard or surfskate. What do you think? Is it realistic enough for an expert like yourself?
@jeromesurffoil70335 күн бұрын
SUP skating would be a great way to work on my weakside stance! I wing skate regularly and it is really fun and helps me to better understand the optimal wing to wind angles.

What about adding a diy small propeller.... like e-foil ??????
@robadair7 күн бұрын
Keep it simple. Learning the start sequence is the key and a motor does not really help imo. Plus propellers and wing fabric don't mix well

I used to windsurf a lot, I still have my old Mistral set up from the 80s. I made a foil last year for behind the boat, but this looks fun, I just can’t afford the sail right now. Do you think a person could make their own sail
