My theory is that as time goes by the further detached from the roots of music we become. Listen to the artists at the top of the charts today ask yourself do you hear the roots of music? That gospel, soul, jazz, blues sound. Sadly the answer is no.

The entire premise of the song's mood starts and ends with legendary Lloyd Parks'(far left) somber tone , a broken hearted man in pure misery. Harold's rap during the middle (remember when I used to take him to ride the pony outside the store) about their small son breaks my heart every time I listen to this record. The composition, Teddy, Harold, Lloyd, Bernie, Larry with TSOP's instrumentation equates to a soul-masterpiece, first of many hits to come for The Blue Notes.

I grew up on this music as a child hearing it on the radio, starting my morning getting dressed for elementary school, listening to Montague, the #1 syndicated disc jockey. Everyone that called in to his show would say, “I LOVE YOU MONTAGUE!!” My husband just sent this to my email at 4 this morning…we’re not together because life happens and gets in the way. I never understood when I was young and people would say, love is not enough…now I understand😢. I’ve ALWAYS loved Harold Melvin & The Bluenotes… RIP to the late gr8 Mr. Pendergrass, the late gr8 Harold Melvin and the other Bluenotes that have passed💞🙏🏾……. and too my husband…I miss you too baby

50 yrs later and still a TOP 5 on the I may have effed up but want back in song list! Teddy owned Philly when I was a kid off 25th and Allegheny. Long live great music and major props to the Philly sound as well as Gamble and Huff.

Mr. Teddy Pendergrass had such a handsome face. Even his profile was gorgeous. I was fortunate enough to see him perform 4 times. How fortunate I was!!!He was definitely a total package. RIH Teddy.We miss you too.

Honestly there is nothing that beats these throwbacks,I'm a 2k but I'm definitely an old soul who appreciates good music and this is top tier music,you can literally feel the emotions being portrayed in this song regardless of the wonderful melody,now this is what I call good music!

I love this great musical group of one my favorite singers of all time Teddy Pendergrass in one of his earlier careers as the lead singer of Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes known for their timeless songs like I Miss You, If You Don't Know Me By Now, The Love I Lost, Bad Luck, Where Are All My Friends, Wake Up Everybody, Don't Leave Me This Way, and lots more too!!! Before he became a solo artist!!!! I want to say thank you for posting this video!!!! I love it!!!! I love the 70s!!! @@gail9299 I had to let that go! I still miss him so much but he’s toxic and I can’t allow him to put me there again. It’s hard but I have to do it! I allowed this to happen to me way too many times….by him!!!!!
