True. But they can just legislate infrastructure requirements against new developments. These rules used to be in place, but the tories relaxed lots of the requirements to make it cheaper for their developer mates. The requirements on housing standards need improving, too. All new builds should have top-level EPC.

@dr.phibes7359 the mayor has little control over regulations and legislation. There will always be those on the take in our system, from all sides (although it's been endemic in the tory party). The only controls we have are laws to hobble these MFs.

Why should you have to block your ears? Because it's Farage. Look, you shouldn't care less about who's speaking and instead reinvest your care into what's being discussed. Additionally, whatever is being discussed, you should care on whether or not it is based in fact and logic and not on whether you like or hate the sound of it. Higher level thinking and reasoning is what makes us human and raises us above the animal kingdom. Stop making decisions based on your feelings and start thinking.

How many times does ‘equal pay’ have to be debunked ffs. Choose better jobs if you want more pay. Stop working in offices and get into infrastructure jobs that pay better. Funny how the damage taken to the people working in the physically damaging jobs is never taken into account account. Those mostly men get loaned at for not doing enough at home when they quite literally have to recuperate from the physical damage they accrue every single day. Working in an office is not equal to working in a building site ffs.
@ash_yt0
@ash_yt0 4 күн бұрын
I think you misunderstand the point of the pay gap issue. There are two parts. First is all the various cultural factors, stereotypes and expectations put on boys vs girls which influence which career choices they believe to be attainable for them, and consider for the future. Hence why there are many efforts to get more women into fields like STEM or law / politics etc. Saying "choose better jobs" is ignoring the cultural inertia that has existed for centuries which still has to be turned to a more equitable direction. And the second is legal support for people who have faced gender discrimination at work, like women being passed over for promotions or pay rises that men working the same job have had... that is illegal but when companies do it they often still get away with it. This is why there is a pay gap, and you don't necessarily have to achieve 50/50 parity, but you do need for every glass ceiling to be broken and for all women to feel welcome and appreciated in any industry they may choose to enter which is sometimes not the case sadly. I think anyone who believes that workplace equality is solved, done and dusted is being.... naive to put it mildly. Seeing trailblazers can help girls visualise the possibilities.

@@ash_yt0 more excuses and cope because women dont want to do the tough jobs but want the pay that comes with the tough jobs. It’s been 50 years since the workforce doubled so it’s about time women stopped moaning and do the jobs that keep society running. “Equitable direction” you mean discriminate against men 😉. “Gender discrimination” ah emotional blackmail. I’m not succeeding because of what’s in between my legs not because you weren’t good enough for the job. Bring back the meritocracy ! “Made welcome” code speak for change everything for a few people entering a workspace and make it as awkward as possible for the majority of people, aye that’s ‘equal’ right enough 🤮
