Thank you for sharing wonderful backpacking and hiking footage of Harriman State Park. The Bald Rock shelter is the popular backpacking place with various level of trails and woods road but there was some bear issue this year. I'm glad to find a fellow hiker and KZfaqr sharing the same passion. God bless you and wish you a happy and healthy New Year!

And bear issues again this year. One such encounter saw a bear pull down the bear cables 2 weekends ago.

I found that trail easy to find yourself off the trail all the sudden. Especially on top of the bald boulders. We actually got caught in a super thick fog on the Ramapo Dundenburg trail at night and got turned around without knowing... in the morning we hiked for an hour, in the direction we THOUGHT was the car... it was the wrong way lol.

Thinking about doing an overnight trip this weekend in Harriman Park for the first time. Thanks for sharing this video. I want to do closer to Bear Mountain state park to camp at the West Mountain shelter.

I've done a few hikes in Bear Mountain State Park, but haven't camped there before, I should probably look into camping there as a different option. Thanks for watching, and have fun on your overnighter this weekend!

@@PrentissC how much water did you bring with you on this trip? You mentioned concern about water sources with 1.5L left, id be interested to hear how much you carry fully topped off

Just spent the night at bald rocks last night. I’m in the BX. If you ever need a second let me know. Not too many of us Blacc back packers. I recently just got my hammock set up but use a tent in winter. “ I think I’m gonna listen to the warning “ hahahahaha

Hey whats up, I need to get some winter gear, cause it's probably a nice experience camping in the winter... with the right gear. It's not like the bears couldn't walk over to the Tom Jones Shelter area like I did, but I figured with more people around It'd be safer lol. I actually found a better hammock camping spot around lake Sebago in harriman the last time I went there. Anyways keep in touch, I'll be back to backpack camping in the spring.
