too bad you didnt get like so many what phisopher's stone means. it has absolutely nothing to do with a philospher. It's 'bad' but usual translation from latin lapis philosophorum which translate to french as ' la pierre philosophale' ( french like italian are very closely related to latin) (remember alchemy, and nicolas Flamel are french). as you can see it's not a common noun , it's actually an adjective. As a matter of fact a better translation would be "the phisophical stone.". Remember Rowling speaks french fluently and was a french teacher for quite a long time. that expression is quite common in french , here 's an example : ' I tinnk I'm gonna win at the lottery, and your friend replies: " yeah right, you'd better try and get the philosopher's stone'. Meaning it's impossible/ it's a dream, as ithe phisopher's stone can give eternal life and transforms lead to gold . So I think the guys who decided to translated to "the sorcerer stone" are not that wrong as many guys from the US dont seem to be aware the phisopher's stone is the name of an alchemist substance not related to an actual philosopher. Remember when you do translate there are what are called " false friend" it's when a word has a different meaning that you would think.

I'm from Germany, here we call it "Stein der Weisen" which means "Stone of the Wise Men". It indicates that only those clever enough could ever find it. Also not that it's a stone that belongs to a Philosopher or a Sorcerer. I'm actually from Italy and I had Latin and French in school, so yeah, I knew all you just bothered to write down.

We were lucky to be able to buy it then, we still own this set and watch everything in it even today! This set is only available on ebay now and sells for as much as $2,000 crazy! I'm sad that you couldn't get your own set, maybe one day you can!

you can get all the 31 dvd/blurays in the 2014 hogwarts collection still on sale and very very cheap ( saw it yersterday in France for 49.90 euros, on amazon uk it's around 70 pounds) that's the exact same disc you had in this expensive box But of course you dont get the props but the discs are in a good looking album like thing..

In america the movie and book are named The Sorcerers Stone so It would be neither correct or incorrect to call it Philosopher or sorcerer, While in the UK the book and movie is named the Philosophers stone, so it is also neither correct or incorrect to pronounce it sorcerers or philosophers stone there too, since America has it named sorcerer's. Either way is fine

We filmed this video with an old flip camera that is now long gone and we were too excited about the box set to keep in mind to be still with the camera more. Many years later we filmed a revival video of this box set which should NOT give you any motion problems. Take care.

Paul D The box set was purchased by Colin's dad for Colin's mom. Colin was and still is "allowed" to open the set anytime he wished when he wants to watch the movies. He is actually very protective of all our Potter collection and takes very good care of his things.

Americans call it sorcerers because the book and movie were published with the name *Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone*. The UK, where the book was originally published was named the Philosophers Stone. Both pronounciations is nor correct or incorrect due to weird publishing. So no, Americans are not pronouning it wrong, the title has just been bended alot to fit the country.
