We need an episode on mother’s love shown in harry potter of course! And an episode on the weasley’s and who you guys think is the best Weasley! Maybe not a whole episode lol but a topic to discuss??

5:34 Close, but Tom Riddle was a Half Blood, not a mud blood. Half Blood is when one parent is magical and the other isn't (which was the case with Voldemort, his mother being an abused sister witch of the Gaunt family and his husband being a hot muggle dude who his mother used a love potion on because he was so hot), a mud blood is when literally none of your parents are magical and you have no real magical decent (example is Hermione, where both her parents were ordinary, muggle dentists). However, you might actually be right in your statement anyways because Voldemort didn't really care/made little distinction between a half blood and mudblood.

Snake didn’t even LIKE Harry. I don’t believe for a second he loved Harry. Whenever he saw Harry he saw James Potter. Harry was a target and a trigger for Snape. Sirius was emtionally immature to be a father figure. He saw Harry more like a brother because he lost James. But still loving and supportive. Remus was the best one. Emtionally mature enough and emtionally present. Regardless of his insecurities he’s been the best figure of anyone for Harry to look up to. But I think Harry gravitated toward Dumbledore more because he’s at school more and more more in contact with him.

Agree on Snape and Dumbldoore and strongly disagree on Sirius and Lupin. If we talk about books and I assume you do because no one accuse Sirius to be immature in movies. Sirius is a wanted criminal and he finds ways and time to be there for Harry. He helped him in those 2 years by being there for him emotionally and physically. Harry never wrote that kind of letters to anyone except of Sirius, because he felt like Sirius care enough to read them and respond to them. Sirius never was reckless with Harry and his safety. Told him in his letters and in person to never risk it, to be careful and never be alone. Sirius is not immature, he fought in a terrible war and lost his close friends, he clearly is not fine in OOTP, but everyone blamed him and never tried to help. I mean I love Molly, but it was not kind of ger to accuse Sirius for being in Azkaban like he did that on purpose. No the same ministry that is being in ass now with Harry are to blame for Sirius's absence. And I will never forgive OOTP movie the "nice one James" because he is not delusional and thinks that Harry is James or see them as one onother. He is James best frend he can see how different they are. He knows that Harry is a kid and not his dueling partner as James was and he told him to get his friends and to run in department om mysteries. Lupin on the other hand never reached out for Harry even though he is an orphan, he never wrote to him after POA, and especially after Sirius's death when Harry needed him the most. He was a great teacher, but it was Harry who figured out Lupin and his dad were friends, if he didn't Lupin would have never told him. I know why he didn't reach out for Harry, but that didn't make Harry's life any easier. He only did when he needed Harry not other way around. And Harry was a kid in need of adults help. Ps I love Lupin, but not because he was great father figure to Harry, but despite that he wasn't.

I haven't watched it all yet, I'm still on 54:19, but I love how you pointed out Vernon as a father figure, a poor one, but he still raised Harry and a lot of people over look that. And I know that this is a "father figure" podcast and as it would be difficult to do a mother figure podcast cause really all Harry has in that regard are Lilly, Petunia, Minerva and Molly. You did mention Molly Weasley and since she was mentioned in the Arthur Weasley segment I think it was poor judgement to leave out that it was Molly who taught Harry how to get on to the platform of 9¾ to Hogwarts Express as that was also an expression, while maybe tiny, of the unconditional love that both Molly, Arthur and the Weasley family as a whole expresses to Harry and the first interaction with the Weasley family

A thought that I had while watching the Lupin segment is that Harry has so many men in his life that it's easier to focus on the Father Figures in a single episode. On the other hand there's not as many prominent women in his life. Lilly, Petunia, Molly Weasley, Ginny Weasley, Hermione, Minerva, Luna and for a bit there's Cho.. I could be wrong but that's about it right? How about an episode for the prominent women in Harry's life?

@@raidersofthelostpodcast_ great podcast!! I loved the out of no where and totally invalid theory of Valdemort as a father figure. Jk, I actually liked the idea behind that theory "as inspiration of a Darker Harry" can't wait til the Mother Figures of Harry Potter with an ending theory of the Fat Lady of the portrait being a mother figure because she provided the Gryffindor House protection or something lol.

Interesting. I reccomend fan read Book 5 Chapter 37 The Lost Prophecy. This chapter explains very clearly why Harry was at the Dursleys. It was for the blood protection which not only benefitted Harry Potter but also the three Dursleys. A careful read of this chapter shed a different light on the whole thing. You could spend a whole podcast on it.
