This is a 3d version of my birthday tribute, shot on a single camera with a wobbly home-made slider for the left and right viewpoints.
My name is Nick, and I'm a stopmoholic!
I can trace my addiction back to a specific moment back in 1958, when Ray Harryhausen's Cyclops made it's first entrance - I'd never seen anything like it, but right away I started saving my lunch money for a second-hand 8mm movie camera so I could try to emulate my new hero. Instead of doing Harryhausen-style creatures, I decided to focus on the effect his work had on one particular 11 year old - but animated in stop motion of course.
Ray has created many wonderful creatures since, and some may have been better films, but things that get to you at a certain age seem to become part of you in a way they may not in later life. So here's my fan-boy effort, dedicated with gratitude to the man most of us in the stop motion community like to refer to as "Uncle Ray" - Happy Birthday Mr Harryhausen!
