There was a profound shift in the late 1980s to 1990s to use more Filipino in school and the media at the expense of English. Before that, many TV shows and the TV news were also mostly in English so people were more exposed to it regularly, but when Filipino shows took over free TV, only those who had access to cable TV could get a steady dose of English language content. It's only recently with KZfaq and the internet that the youth have been able to get free exposure to English media again.

My countrymen even in their impoverished lives are hospitable/ accommodating, generous and happy people. That’s the secret of the Philippines that the world is getting to know now through social media and blogging.

FYI: The older Filipino generation speaks better English because they were taught by the Americans. Moreover, before 1986, English was the language used by PH mass media and the PH government. It's the younger generation who are poor in English because mass media has shifted to Tagalog during the '90s. However, most urban youth nowadays are good in English because of social media.

Hi Harry, at times of lockdowns during pandemic in 2020 and 2021 Philippines did not experience riots, demonstrations demanding for food but instead, the citizens organized community pantries to collect food and goods to be distributed to the poorer Filipinos. On top of that, the government also gave cash and food items. I live in a high rise condo in Ortigas, we also received food and cash aid from the city government. So, rich, middle and poor received something.

4 times I visit Philippines no problem very beautiful and friendly people sending love to the Philippines from the UK ❤❤❤❤❤

That was a very nice gesture you made, giving them that money. I had relatives who lived in Tondo back in the 70s and your video reminded me of their old place. Like that family you visited, they might not have had much, but they were always generous, always willing to share what they had no matter how little it was. I remember my aunt always greeting us with a big laugh and then serving us food. It was loud and chaotic, and as you saw, it was multiple generations under one roof.

Did you know that TONDO where you walked around in is a very large area divided into sections called 'barangays', there are almost 1000 barangays in Tondo, Manila. Its the heartbeat of Manila where the true residents live. The current Mayor of Manila Isko Moreno Domagoso was born, grew up in Tondo, just like the neighborhood you went to. If you guys are still in Manila, I suggest you ride a jeepney towards the Manila City Hall, its adjacent to the Intramuros, and you'll be pleasantly surprised on the surroundings, who knows you might even meet the mayor himself, he is very accomodating.
