Aaron, Do you see how she lights up when she is talking about "the Hartley"? You get my vote for Husband of the Year. I am so happy for you both and I have enjoyed every moment of your "Hartley Story" . From "just a dream" to final realization, the story has touched my heart.

@@kmarch6630 ???? Hmmm.....I am wondering why you asked. But, anyway... ....I addressed Aaron because, as I recall, in an earlier video, It was Aaron who surprised her with the news that he was able to negotiate a good deal/price and get the Hartley a lot sooner than she ever dreamed it could happen. Also, because Aaron reads the comments.

Aaron, you are a good man, that is why you can't imagine doing that to someone else's property. I was raised that way and I raised my kids that way. I would tell them when we walked to stay off people's grass, don't tug on trees or shrubs, don't touch their flowers, and stay out of their yards. Nowadays respect is not the front liner on how to behave. I was raised to serve my neighbors. We cut their grass and shovelled the sidewalks. It turned into a game to do it and get away before they figured it out. I didn't like to be paid for doing it. SPIKE STRIPS- go for it. I think you need signs at the minimum. Heck, I would do a gate if I were you. Being popular like you are, I worry about it. I hope you at least have cameras everywhere.

I’m obsessed with gardening and I love how passionate you both clearly are, but I also love how wholesome you are. Especially with all the awful stuff going on in the world, it’s so nice to watch people just genuinely being generous and community-centric, and loving what they do. Your kids are so lucky to have you both as parents, and the internet is lucky to have you too. Ps … I’m really looking forward to seeing all the changes and the new property etc come to fruition. Call it what it is, the Hartley is the brand, easy peasy. We all know what you’re referring to when you mention it and if it bothers someone, they’re petty, and should move on to other channels. If I had the need of a greenhouse and could justify the cost, which you absolutely can, I would have one and it would be fancy as I could make it, I’d hang a chandelier in it and have a sitting area to drink my coffee and probably have movie night in it with my family when the weather is lovely! Laura and Aaron....I just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to do your videos. Seeing you go through the large project process has finally kicked my butt into action. For a long time Ive been hesitant in making any changes to my property. It’s really daunting when you live on your own. Seeing you tackle things and going through the pain before the end result has made a huge difference to me. If Laura and Aaron can do it then I can. My renovations have now started. I am slightly stressing but I am so looking forward to the end result and I am applying Aaron’s school of thinking in planning ahead for what might be in the future. Phase 1 was a new garden boundary...completed yesterday. Phase 2 is a hybrid orangery due in Sept/Oct time. Phase three is a complete revamp of the garden space that is left with some heavy construction including raised beds (planning for when I get older and cannot bend as much). Phase 4 will be the kitchen and phase 5 will be a new floor throughout the ground floor. Without your inspiration, I never would have started...so thank you xxxx

The older I get the harder animal things are for me. My own, my friends, in the wild... doesn't matter. Seeing that quail leave when Laura was into the cabbage, was heart wrenching. So glad eggs were saved. Had a bird nest in a bird house (not intended for the bird actually) and 4 of the 5 didn't make it. I watched the one that did make it, hop and call for its mama for an hour before I couldn't take it anymore and went in the house. It was heading toward the woods where its mama was calling it, so I'm hopeful it was able to survive.

However, I think you did the best thing in this case as she would likely abandon them due to the reasons you mentioned like lack of shelter. @@dianeweeks352 True, but I think what some people need to know is: should my soil be constantly moist, really wet, or dry out between waterings? Varies by plant. That kind of info would be useful to be given for each plant discussed.

I have started checking on Google to see because of our high heat and trying to figure out if the problems with my pots are heat or water. Turns out some of the plants were getting waaay too much water. Who knew?!

I was just about to turn the light off and I noticed the late night post. Now I have to decide, go to sleep or keep watching. I guess it isn’t too late for you though. I’ve been raised in GA but I spent one year in OR during college. Such beautiful country. I love watching you cultivate your corner of the world!

Super fascinated with your take on big leaf hydrangea. My big leafs are in full shade. Woodland garden style. The non-stop bloom all season long. Still going and we are a few days shy of mid September. Zone 5b, NH. Fascinates me how zones really aren't the same across the country.

We drilled a new well back in the 80’s. It had high iron content. My hair is very blonde, it turned my hair orange....like a crayon orange.... NOTHING got it out ! Stained all my clothes, sheets, towels, sink, washer, toilet...EVERYTHING 😫 We tried filters but it didn’t work, because the iron ‘settles out’ after passing through the filters is what we were told after trying everything to fix it. There was a special cleaner that we could use every once in a while on the fixtures but also required a ton of elbow grease, very hard work.

I totally understand about getting carried away while trimming. I did that to a gardenia recently. I just figured I couldn’t keep waiting for the right time and just do it. Then I kept trimming and trimming. It’s a beast of a shrub in the front of a border. As much as it loves the spot it needs to be moved. So, that will be happening soon and it even produced a couple of blooms even after I chopped so much off!

I also prune my elderberry into tree form. It sits on the north side of our privacy fence in the corner. It wasn't getting enough air flow and created thick layer of mold on the mulch. So I scraped away the mulch and limbed up the elderberry. So far it was worked with air flow and I really like the look of it.

I’m in the high desert also in northern Utah, where it’s also dry, hot, and lovely! I could do without the freezing snow and cold and dry weather of winter though. I can’t believe I haven’t moved to a warmer climate yet… 😂🤦🏼‍♀️🤣 the older I get, the more I dislike the depressing winters here.

My salvia always slump by the time they are full of blooms. I started putting up those round wire cages for them to grow up through and it's been great. After first bloom I cut them back at the height of the supports and they bloom again. I live in Denver Colorado
