Hartung Family Farms is a farming operation out of Jackson and Clinton County Iowa, with our main farm located in Preston Iowa. We have around 2400 acres of corn, soybeans, alfalfa, rye, and oats as well as around 750 head of cattle. Realize livestock operations do not have as much time to do preventive maintenance. But I get the impression is something this operation needs to improve upon.

One of my bosses lifted at the end of the field. His front end wasn't nearly heavy enough. It lifted before the implement did. When it came down, the muffler system fell completely apart. He got bounced around a bit. Came back to the farm and wasn't very excited about doing more.

You mentioned that your fuel filters were plugged and you were going to lose power. Did you stop in the field to remove the filter/filters and dump out the dirt in order to regain full power? Or was it a false alarm. When was the last time filters were replaced. Do you keep to a regular schedule on things like filters or do you just run until the engine's power is derated to a level you an no longer use the tractor and then take some type of action. I am sure most viewers would like to know.

Always fuel up your big tractor when your done at night if it’s getting colder out during fall tillage you won’t get much moisture in your fuel and start having filter problems. God bless

If the shanks are on 30 inch spacing it has a 15 foot working width.

That's a coulter in front of the shank to cut the residue and let it pass through the machine without plugging... Not to cut a "slit" in front of the shank.. lol

Well Ryan why don’t you guys try putting manure on a different field or does one the soil’s gonna warm up quicker if it’s worth compared to being no tail where it’s gonna take longer if it’s not worked it’s not gonna be here to heat up as well and you’re always gonna be also and you’re also gonna be able to get a Headstart for to plant sooner for the next growing season so if I can get some tillage done than none I would be I would be more than glad to do that so why don’t you try or try like something like wait on some of your different anchors but once you want some snow anyways for precipitation first snow cover cause it’s still gonna be moisture it’s still gonna melt and turn in the water So I’m just wondering how they’re wondering from that aspect of meow why do you want to do more for more cultivating or more chisel plowing than ripping or like a high speed disk
