Hartung Family Farms is a farming operation out of Jackson and Clinton County Iowa, with our main farm located in Preston Iowa. We have around 2400 acres of corn, soybeans, alfalfa, rye, and oats as well as around 750 head of cattle. We have a wide range of International equipment from small tractors from the 1970s to newer large farm tractors!

Yes, love these videos but saw too many guns pointed at people and shots towards people. Be careful as I like watching your videos and hate to or hear of someone getting hurt.

@@kenreiner259yes we bear hunt with 34 people and it gets tough on some drives to know where everyone is so when we drive our drivers yell and carry on so the sitters know how close they are. It also helps keep the drives in line.

@@Harley365 Opening weekend is a little iffy for drives but if they had not done it someone else would have. I'd even be willing to bet that particular piece of woods was driven at least twice that day.

@@HartungFamilyFarmsas long as it’s legal I agree 100%…..just curious if you guys use buckshot or slugs….i do deer drives in Jersey and my gunning club only allows buckshot to be used doing drives….i like your videos and it seems you guys are very aware of everyone’s location on the drives!

Nice hunting! My friend and I also got a 250lbs male deer last Saturday. It took us half an hour to drag it out of wood.

See Ron, IF I could come out hunting I could even bring my Kioti Side by side. It makes getting drivers and pushers to locations so much easier, not to mention bringing out the deer.

Those types of shots and hunters taking them is why I quit slug hunting in Iowa. Lots of good hunters out there, but there’s no reason to rush those shots. Completely irresponsible.

@@HartungFamilyFarms Not only at the 18:30-ish mark but you used it for the opening clip of this F’n video…multiple times it was said, “glad nobody got hurt”. With those types of ethics…it’s a fricken miracle. Stick to farming, none of you are hunters.

Did you notice how that gun moved a bunch before he shot? The gun wasn’t raised until the deer were 30 yards behind the hunters but keep trying keyboard warriors

With a group of hunters, drivers and blockers, it is nearly impossible to avoid a laser event. This is why I avoid driven hunts whenever possible. But I must say you do it better than most.

Bucks down here in the south will be the first out a lotta times. They’ll turn back towards the drivers and sneak between them or lay down in something thick and let em pass and take out back where the drivers came from. We’ve learned to throw stuff in the thick stuff to make sure they ain’t slipping through and try to have backups for the drivers.

18:32 I don’t care how big the deer is, taking shots in each other’s direction is how accidents happen. Use whatever excuse you want, your plain reckless. You can see the slug impact the ground right in front of you.

You guys need to have a hunting safety meeting before each deer season. Maybe have an instructor come out and give a course. So far nothing has happened but why chance it . Losing someone and legal action.

It’s awesome to see family and friends havin fun in the woods. I can’t turn the videos off. I’m a hunter from Missouri. I know we have bigger deer and it’s every Iowans dream to head south a few miles but you guys have the best videos out there. The comradely and the way you all involve the kids fills my heart. @11:00 THE ONLY DOWNSIDE TO WEARING JEANS... Is that deer see the color BLUE well into the ultra-violet! In fact, on a cloudy day it stands out like neon to them. Look it up; deer are not completely color blind, like dogs; but are red-green color blind.

Are radios legal to use while hunting there ? I would suggest at least purchasing some of the cheap Motorola Talk Abouts; I would think the shooters, yelling back and forth, waving, and moving around is detrimental to a quiet, stealthy hunt. I prefer quiet communication when deer are in the area. But, to each his own.
