... Back here again after the news. The master artist has left this world and has moved on to the next.

I'll summarize what I understood: There are two people who are in a relationship. While one isn't happy in the relationship (maybe even suffering from depression ), the other one doesn't even notice it as "staring at his/her smile was his/her remedy" when really the other person was "dying underneath". This goes on until "it is far too late" and the unhappy partner eventually dies (suicide?). "rain falls" and washes away the shared past of the couple (could be tears that fell during the funeral ("people dressed in black") or maybe just literal rain). Either way, with the burial of the partner the (from the singers p.o.v.) good times, are "laid to rest" as the singer now is only able to think about the passing of his partner. In the refrain, the singer talks about how he told himself that "the hurt" of his loss "would pass with time", but quite obviously it doesn't as the singer and his partner are now "worlds apart" (one dead and in the afterlife, the other one still alive). He talks about how his partner has "made another start" and how he wishes "to do the same" but is held back by his feelings (making "another start" for the singer could mean starting anew and go on with life or taking it and join his partner in the afterlife). He says that he is trying to move on, but can't since it feels like his partner is now watching his every step from above. Him not being able to escape his/her face shows that he feels immense guilt towards his partner and that he still isn't used to living without his partner. The next part deals with the unhappiness his partner felt in life, as he finds indications which make him ask himself if his partner was happy with him or not. He quickly excuses his unawareness with his partner dying before he could get a chance to think about this. Now for this next part, I am not really sure what it means. The only thing I could imagine being the "one word" could be saying yes to the singer's proposal. He then goes on with thinking that he was "the only crutch" in his partner's life and that he "held (him/her) back". Now the next refrain starts in which the singer states that he'll wait for his time to come and once happened to walk into the afterglow/life and reunite with his partner. In this part of the song, the singer breaks out of the depression that once caged him and begins to accept the passing of his partner. The first refrain plays a second time, but instead of pitying himself and holding himself back from moving on the singer now recognizes that his partner is now freed from hiding his/her emotions as he says that "every tear (the partner) had been afraid to show, (they) now can finally start to flow". In the final part the singer with saying that he doesn't know when the memories - no matter if good or bad ( quarrels and amends)- will end, but, since them meeting again is only a matter of time, he'll "stop his asking when" it will actually happen. The song ends with him saying that the partner's path in the afterlife is "bathed in brilliant rays" and that he will join him/her once they "meet again someday". Ps: Since this is just my personal interpretation of the song, nothing is written in stone. Feel free to correct me if you think that I am wrong or that I missed something! ^^

I came here because of my ex girlfriend. But if you listen to the lyrics it's actually about the acceptance of the loss. And how we must cherish everything that was given to us even if we can't change the odds.

I've never been affected heavily by a loss, mostly because I haven't experienced one yet. Even so, this song makes me cry every time without fail.

This is BEYOND hard to listen to, and I thought for the longest time, the short version was, there is just so much more to it now, and the reason why I find it so hard to listen to, is because so much remind me of my late wife who passed away last year (07/16/2017), it just syncs together with the passing of a loved one, its kinda unreal.

This song makes me cry i'll admit that. I had a girl who i loved and we dated for 5 years before she took her own life and i always kept that burden on me and felt it was my fault. I've now grown to know i couldn't of done anything but this song reminds me of her.
