Industrial hemp is a crop that has the potential to lower the environmental impacts of textile production, empower small-scale farmers and create jobs in a wide variety of industries. Two non-profit groups, Fibershed and Growing Warriors, are working to reintroduce industrial hemp into Kentucky-and eventually U.S. agriculture.
Sign the petition to legalize industrial hemp and Allow American Farmers to Grow Industrial Hemp.
Patagonia, through our membership in 1% For The Planet®, provides cash grants and in-kind services to thousands of community-based groups working to create positive change for the planet in their own backyards. www.patagonia.com/grants

As a Veteran of the US Marine Corps I sincerely appreciate that there's good people like this advocating for a good cause such as this. It saddens me to see so many Veterans seemingly pushed aside and forgotten by the very country we served. I will definitely support this company.

You weren't protecting the USA, you were protecting Israel from its neighbours who Israel constantly provokes while knowing that Americans will be killed and wounded, not them.

As a veteran, I thought it wasn't possible to feel patriotic again about the country that I served. This video, however, kindled a little bit of that patriotism that I thought I had permanently lost. I have a new found respect for Patagonia and I fully support this company and will be buying more clothes from them in the future.

Working in a factory doing a lot of lifting and walking. I have a lot of muscle soreness and can’t sleep well during the day ( I work at night) I tried beeswax with hemp oil. What a difference it made. I don’t hurt as much, I sleep better, and I’m more productive than ever.

I am glad to see spurts of progress (about hemp farming) in a lot of states. Sooner or later there has to be a tipping point in which the federal government will surrender to state nullifications of the 1970 Controlled Substances Act.

Shame on those, who prohibited this plant. Their bodies are still rotten - but hemp is unforgotten. Our plant has a huge demand on products made of hemp. Food, fiber, clothes, paper, plastic, cars, fuel, furniture and and and.

Great video. Would like to see a follow-on video of what these folks are doing today. Hope their industrial hemp business has flourished and grown. As a versatile market crop, I suspect that hemp would require far fewer inputs that cotton, making it more economical, and more environmentally friendly. That flag was more beautiful than the cotton and synthetics versions.

What an inspiring & beautiful film. It beats me why governments can't usually see beyond the ends of their noses. This should be shown to those who make the decisions (supposedly on our behalf) for the betterment of society and all. But we're mostly led by donkeys in the pay of big corporations and lobbyists who only see the next buck to be made from short term unsustainable enterprises.Good work.

There are two approaches to a resource: you can be a miner, or be a steward. A miner finds it, finds a way to take possession, blasts a hole and pulls it out, sends it to market, then leaves the mess for someone else to clean up when he's done. A steward knows that he can have a future only by taking good care of the resource, and so he works to make it better, often leaving it in better shape than he found it. Which method characterizes the bulk of American industry? Which approach might better serve more as we head into a future of diminishing resources?

Swords into plowshares brothers. Instead of sending them to the army why don’t we start the organic farms and subsidize them instead of the big agribusiness? Give these people free solar panels In the field and pay them for the energy. Let them grow what they want. Industrial Cannabis is a great cash crop. Let them have family cows. Guarantee their farm a universal basic income in a modest amount. Turn urban blight into farms and empty areas into farms.See how quickly they will heal.
