Amazing, In fact I think Blender foundation should hire this developer to keep working on implementing more features for Texturing. Blender texturing is what needs the most attention, given how Substance Painter is consistently getting shafted by Adobe.

Blender foundation would never hire an addon developer, it has never happened. Ton himself promoted addon piracy. BF doesn't like addon developers at all.

@@ameliawatson2017 I meant like how Pablo Dobarro was hired to improve Sculpting. Hire this guy to work on texturing, not about developing an addon but updating the vanilla blender.

For the last 2 years there have been no major update on Modeling/Sculpting/Painting, or anything related to asset creation. They are too focusing on Everything nodes. There were so many addons that add entire workflow to Blender but were ignored. It's such a shame that they decided to go the technical route instead of a more artist friendly route. Anyways, Instamat is free and can do everything Substance Designer/Painter can and more. I would prefer that they spend resource on something else.

The problem here is for painting roughness map and also metalic one and other Sheen or anisotropic map, we realy need a tool that convert normal map and height Map detail to that kind of map, there is an ambient occlusion and dirt Map generator that works fine inside blender, Zbrush can add crazy amont of normal map and height map detail but also lack those feature, now there is 3D coat and Qixel that can do some stuff substance designer and painter can make, there is also a project name materialise, but il not sure about a full open source PBR painting and picture to texture converting app that can make that.

@@ameliawatson2017 All the add-ons like LoopTool, Node Wrangler, Extra Objects, MeasureIt, were community add-ons that were later integrated in Blender. Blender 4.2 propose a new extension platform for distributing add-ons directly in Blender. This probably demonstrate quite the opposite of what you are saying here. Blender is not Photoshop, but it's probably the most "artsy" 3D software out there with grease pencil, scultping, polylines, etc. Grease Pencil v3 and sculpting improvement are under developement, this is obvioulsy not "everything node" and for the technicians out there.
