Stephen A really said KD has to be held responsible for Harden not scoring and Kyrie sitting out. And that's why he shouldn't be MVP. But also KD has that same team at #1 in his conference and only 3 games behind Steph's. He also mentioned Steph missing Klay and Wiseman and while ignoring that KD is missing Kyrie and for a large part of the season, Joe Harris.

If all you do is look at box score to do analysis, then I may as well ask a middle schooler. KD has a slight edge on ball. Steph Curry is in another stratosphere off ball. KD ain't in the same league off ball. Steph is drawing people away and making the 2 and 3 options look like all stars on a nightly basis. From a culture perspective, Curry has KD beat as well. Everyone is having fun all the time in Golden State. Why is that? Why is everyone so unselfish? It starts with number 30. Curry is More Valuable. If all you do is look at PPG and FG%, then I got nothing for you.

Steph MVP. Kd has a stacked team, which was expected to be in the final at the beginning of the season. In the history of nba how many teams have had multiple mvps, multiple top 75 players, 41 all star appearances, 5 players with at more than 5 Allstar appearances. Kd, Harden, Aldridge, Mills, Blake. (Kyrie, Harris). The Nets can’t even beat above 500 teams.. 1st in East because they beat mediocre teams. GSW wasn’t even expected to be top 5 in the west this season but Steph has done it with a rookie(Poole), a former bust(Wiggins), one dimensional(Draymond), and a pack of former g league players………

The fact KD is playing like he is currently coming off from a torn Achilles might be the greatest story in sports not being talked about. This man is really carrying the Nets on his back to the number 1 seed averaging 29pts on 52% shooting all while Harden is having the worst year of his career and Kyrie not playing a single game. I don’t even think the MVP race is close. Nets role players are washed compared to Warriors players.

Steph elevating g leaguers, and rookies with his leadership, team ball, gravity to a make teammates look good; nobody thought a team that couldn’t make playoffs to be this good. Poole is on a rookie contract. Draymond is one dimensional, he only gets assists because Steph can play offball. Wiggins only plays good bcos of Steph gravity, and 4 v 3 opportunities when Steph is doubled. Nets have a great team, if Steph had that team they will tear the league apart.

@@fawadchaudhry6654 those percentages are only for when they have the ball. steph constantly gets two or more defenders on him when he doesn't even have the ball off a pindown or off a screen he's setting himself. in turn, he doesn't have the ball as much as kd. kd's also mostly doubled on the post, he doesn't have two guys blitzing him on every pnr like steph. when kd is doubled, he doesn't need to give the ball up because it's much easier to score on a double in the post than off a pnr blitz. it's also the right play to make to give the ball up to the wide open cutter when the pnr ball handler is blitzed. steph makes that play every time instead of forcing the issue into the double team, which is also the reason as to why steph's scoring is down.

And I’m not even saying it was 100% impossible because that Golden State team was decent, but that “2nd run in Cleveland” Bron was really a problem. And GS realized after Bron, Kyrie, Love and the Cavs came back from a 3-1 to win game 7 in their house, that they absolutely needed more help to stop them because of who was leading the way.

I would say KD without Harden and Kyrie has the same chance in winning with Nets.... Patty Mills is doing a better job than Harden. They can trade the 2 fools in Kyrie and Harden and get quality shooters to help KD and they got a better chance.

I just happen to go look at Steph stats yesterday, so it’s fitting this topic came up. He’s shooting 43 percent from field and 40 from 3. That instantly made me think “How is a lot of people saying he’s running away with the MVP?” KD is definitely more efficient and also leading league in scoring. Warriors are much deeper than the Nets top heavy roster. My nod goes to KD due to roster and Kyrie being out. Curious who else do you all have in MVP conversation besides KD and Steph?

KD, Although SC broke the record which is incredibly impressive, look at his efficiency and poor shooting performance in some of those games. KD on the other hand had maintained a high level of consistency with less help.More PPG, Higher Shooting volume %, Higher FG %, Higher Efficiency, and almost the same amount of APG. So far my MVP is as followed - 1. KD 2. Giannis 3. Curry 4. Jokic 5. Butler/Paul

KD is averaging more points and rebounds. He’s behind Steph by .3 in assists. He shooting about 9% better from the field. He’s shooting the ball much more efficiently. Kyrie hasn’t hit the floor, Harris has been out the majority of the season. And they are about 3-4 games behind stephs team. At the top of the Eastern Conference. I’m this show, they’ve said Steph is the runaway favorite to win and I just don’t understand. It’s not Jokic because of his teams record and Giannis isn’t as much in the convo as KD and Steph. Rn the front runner is KD. To say otherwise is just to ignore the analysis and the way MVP players are chosen.

Individually so far KD, the pressure from the record got to Curry last 6 games and he's in a slump rn. But he'll pick it back up with Klay coming back next week. But I was told last year no matter how good you perform if you can't win games you're not MVP last year about Curry so why is KD suddenly MVP this year when he's lost all the contender games?

@@jetpetersho The conversation in general wasn't about MVP, it says who has had the better season so far and for that I would say Steph because he is balling like usual but his team is also been really good which hasn't been the case for a while in GS and they are not even at full strength yet As for the MVP I think KD should be leading that, he has done more with less his team is 1st place in the East he has better numbers then Curry in many major stats, Curry is having a great season but the last few game he has struggled whereas KD has improved

Because Steph has uplifted this team people assume it’s a good team, thus KD is carrying his team more. But who was originally favored to go to the finals? Nets. Nobody prior to this season started picked GS. That is all because of Steph. Curry is the MVP regardless of KD being more efficient ! Nets have over all better players currently.

yea no. although the nets were "supposed" to be here, nobody expected this type of drama and inconsistency from its star guys. nobody expected harden to not be himself, Kyrie to not be here, etc. Warriors have a better ran organization with a better coach and a better system. When KD scores more the individual stats matter team record doesn't, when Curry scores more team records matter not individual stats because if your team isn't winning you're not MVP. First, KD is ahead of Steph in stats but the impact that Steph is having on his team is significantly greater than KD's impact on the Nets. Second, KD's percentages are better because he has Harden who can draw the defense attention on him making it easy for KD to score while on the other side, all the attention is focussed on Steph. I do believe it's harder to score when you are being guarded by 2 to 3 guys

Poole is on a rookie contract. Draymond is one dimensional, he only gets assists because Steph can play offball. Wiggins only plays good bcos of Steph gravity, and 4 v 3 opportunities when Steph is doubled. Nets have a great team, if Steph had that team they will tear the league apart.

After watching it twice, I better understand Stephen A.'s point. For as great an individual season as KD is having so far, and he should still be an MVP candidate, he's not being played defensively the same way Steph is, the Nets have more losses to teams so far that will challenge the Nets run to make the Finals or ECF along with losing to the two favorites to represent the West so far (another point in Steph's favor), all while, until recently, still having the services of James Harden, LaMarcus Aldridge, Blake Griffin, and Patty Mills. The Nets are first in their conference but haven't exactly looked their best with all the players available. Both teams are mostly the same as last year and somehow Steph has led the Warriors from an 8 seed play in position to having the league's best record (for now) while being without their second best player and defenses specifically focusing on Steph to make others on the team beat them instead of him aka impact

And to Stephen A.'s other point (the leaving Steph for Kyrie thing), ultimately the best player in the world or players in the conversation are expected to be the ones to be called on to lift their teams above others, be the difference makers when needed. The perception will be (according to Stephen A) that KD left a structure and system that deferred to him and took a back seat to welcome him in for the sake of winning championships (when they had already won a championship) because he couldn't be viewed as the man on the team, just for him to get his own team and potentially come up short as the man on his own team when the team u left regroups and potentially wins a championship again without you

KD is leading the east with a team filled of rookies and an impotent James Harden. So if Kyrie comes back and the big three is reestablished, I don’t want to hear SAS say that KD is weak. Kd is having the better season. But it’s a close race.
