i still haven't forgiven them for leaving this out of the cast recording...although experiencing it for the first time seeing the show made it more impactful (and heartwrenching...and soul destroying)

There’s a reason they didn’t put it in there. Because they want to hit you from left field when you hear this song. It’s not because they didn’t want to record it. It’s because you would already know that this reprise was coming up and then it wouldn’t hit as hard as it does.

By far the most emotional/goosebump inducing song in the musical. I can't believe that Matt and Trey had originally decided to cut this song from the finished play... Apparently the original actress who is singing during this video convinced them to keep the reprise in the show. I'm so glad she did, because this is the most powerful scene in the musical by far

So many people around the world live in countries with unstable governments, violence, social injustice, poverty, disease, etc. this song is just so touching and hurtful and emotional. They just want to live in a country like the US (paradise according to nabulungi). I still haven’t stopped crying yet.

The stoory summed up is that twoo mormons travel to Uganda on a mission trip and they meet this girl who they make belive shes going to paradise only to reveal that shes not actually going but its a metaphor. Hasa Diaga Eebowai translates to Fuck you God
