This was a quick build where I built and painted it in a weekend then added the decals and weathering in the following weekend, a slightly mysterious scheme as I'm yet to find any images of the actual aircraft, reportedly being used in October 1940 from Northern France as a fighter bomber over the south of England. These aircraft generally caused alarm in sporadic single bombing raids (using a single SC 250kg bomb centrally under the fuselage) towards the end of the Battle of Britain. 'Achtung Anfanger' roughly translates as attention beginners, make of that what you will, these decals came from the Kagero book on the BoB Volume 3 Topcolours series. The replaced gun cover in front of the windscreen adds interest and has been depicted in RLM 65 as well as bare metal, I chose bare metal but knowing the Germans it probably was painted and protected. The aircraft served as Black 6, 5/JG51, Mardyck Autumn 1940.

Thanks so much. I love any models from the BoB, from the RAF or Luftwaffe. And I am told that the Regia Aeornautica (The Italian Air Force) was also in the battle. This Bf-109E is great.

You're skills are better and you're able to produce great results much faster. Impressive! Having the tools is a must. I have to hold a committee meeting it seems everytime I even pull out sanding sticks - I'm so deliberate in my actions.

In the Battle of Britain the British stood alone against one of the most powerful militaries in history--and won! Only Englishman could have done this, with their cool nerve and savage grace. You should be very proud, sir. May there always be an England.

If I saw 'attention begginer' on the side of a 109 I would think 'German humour, and a challenge......this guy is no novice'. 🤔😆 Beautifully made kit by the way.

When the USAAF went to all metal aircraft the only part of the fighter's painted OD green was the cowl in front of the cockpit (bomber has the engine cowls that faced the cockpit painted as well) to avoid the glare from the sun I would think that the German's would be just as wise.
@ricardoroberto100
@ricardoroberto100 3 жыл бұрын
The germans had no bare metal planes. All parts left the factory with anti corrosive layers and undercoat which is why at the very end of the war they flew in weird greens and yellows as it was the under coats as they ran out of the rlm top coats. Contrary to proper belief no bare metal.

It is my understanding that you dobt need a Fine needle, ie .2 etc to do fine work. Is this correct? Cause I use a iawata hp cs for all my fine details. Not that I'm a good or treat modler only been back in the hobby after a hiatus of 30 years
@ChampionScaleModelling
@ChampionScaleModelling 3 жыл бұрын
no but it does help, fine needles make it easier to do tight work and reduces the amount of over spray you get.

@@ChampionScaleModelling would you consider .35 a fine needle? Getting all the info I can since I've been out of hobby for 3+ decades. Lots of stuff I never knew and or used.
