This is definitely not Hasidic, not even sure it’s orthodox, definitely if it’s on Rosh hashana being filmed and speaking on a microphone which is forbidden on this holy day. But sure has a nice voice and a gorgeous rabbi.

I am a former Lutheran who went to Roman Catholicism. I was Missouri Synod Lutheran. Is there a reason you chose EO instead of Roman Catholic? I also was split between EO and RC, but I guess it was easier to see the RC up close and personal due to figues like Scott Hahn and the prevelance of catholic churches. However, I attend a Tridentine Mass half the sundays and a new mass the other half. As a Missouri Synod Conservative Lutheran, I expected the catholic mass to be an abomination of heresies, but found it nearly identical to our eucharistic liturgy. It was only when I saw Orthodoxy and the Tridentine Mass, thatI was like "Oh, heres the Romish Popish stuff Ive been hearing about" but then look, the Jews, or elder brothers in the faith, worship in like manner.

In case nobody mentioned it, and for the non-Jews in the house, notice that at 2:24 the rabbi greets the congregation with "Shana Tova", so this is a service at Rosh ha-Shana, the Jewish New Year. Lots of cantors love to use this Kaddish melody for the High Holydays (myself included :) ). For obvious reasons, the melody is also known as "The Happy Kaddish". A reminder that the awe of the Days of Awe still includes an aspect of joy -- we are happy for the new year, we are happy for opportunities those days and every day to change our lives.
