Countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński makes a dramatic entrance with the aria ‘Mea tormenta, properate’ by Johann Adolf Hasse. This is the first opportunity to discover a track from his debut album, ANIMA SACRA, which is released in October. wnrcl.me/animasacra
“Baroque style is about freedom and passion,” says Orliński, who was born in Poland, trained at New York’s renowned Juilliard School and in 2016 won the Metropolitan Opera's prestigious National Council Auditions.
While Hasse came from Germany, ANIMA SACRA’s special focus is on composers of the Neapolitan school and it features world premiere recordings of no fewer than eight arias. Jakub Józef is partnered by the brilliant team of Il pomo d’oro and conductor Maxim Emelyanychev. All in all, quite a debut!

This performance is so charged with electricity and animal energy. Orliński's eyes convey as much emotion as his voice, and the keyboardist plays with his whole body! This is how I like to imagine Baroque music, alive and crawling up your spine, not quietly resting like some vase in a museum. Bravo!

@@HiCy2012 Shoma Uno is one of the top figure skaters. This, Mea Tormenta is part of his FS music for the coming season. That is, we still haven't seen it yet. He will debut it at the end of July, on a show called "The Ice" in Japan. But typically you can watch the performance and see how it improves and develops in the 2022-2023 season. We just need to wait ;)

Beautiful music, beautiful voice, beautiful young man.. I like his Anima Sacra CD a lot, listen to it very often. I listened to his live concert at Versailles this past December. He is very well received by the public. There is lots of enthusiasm about him. And he seems to have it all: the talent, the voice, the look. I believe he has a very bright future and a great career ahead.

This work is one of my favorite Hasse pieces. Of course when it's sung by Orlinski, the whole piece takes on a meaning that is out of this world. Orlinksi is my fave countertenor of all time.

He sings so brilliant! I'm following him since three years and every time with a new piece of his work, he is better and better - so powerful, so sensitiv - he is touching my heart and soul, that's unbelievable. It's a hard work to become so brilliant. The same goes for the orchestra Il pomo doro, the solists play so greatful and perfect - it's a pleasure!

Me too, but I think the field has changed a bit. Either the vocal coaches must have gotten the memo that we don’t want to hear that overfed-pigeon sound any more, or the Farinelli movie mashup of the voices of Ewa Malas-Godlewska and Derek Lee Ragin got people thinking.

I was just stunned by the skill and vitality of this piece....especially Orlinski’s voice and the conductor/keyboard player’s energy. Then all of a sudden KZfaq sends me a ‘suggestion’ in on corner of the screen...for.......Justin Bieber and Ed Sheehan........I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.....just know the two combined can’t equal 1% of THIS performance.
