Hat Embroidery with a 4x4 Brother Embroidery Machine! Learn How to Embroider on Hats The Babys Booty

Embroidering on Hats can be done! With only a 4x4 hoop field, you are able to embroider on hats!
If you take the time and have a bit of patience, you can accomplish embroidering on Ball caps,
straw hats, and even Sun Visors!

In this instruction I use the Brother SE425 to put a monogram on a Baseball Hat. Any of the entry
level Brother 4x4 embroidery machines can be used to embroider hats.
I created my monogram by combining my initials from the embroidery font found here:

Just wanted to share a little tip I discovered. Use masking tape to hold the sweat band back; doesn't leave residue on the hat and saved me a headache (no pun intended).

I pulled hats from my business - I had a 10 needle babylock with hat attachment and it never ever would stitch large enough to satisfy my clients and it was so much trouble. I really think to get the best result you need to de-structure hats in order to get a large embroidery to look great. Depending on the profile size of that hat makes a world of difference. I'm glad you found a way but its not for me or my patience. We only do heat applied graphics now and I'm glad for it. Thanks for the demonstration, you are talented!

Thanks for the video. I am just getting start with the SE-400. I also bought into the Brother Design Plus Programing Software to assist me with my digitizing issues as I do my own images of the American Muscle Cars & was trying to find a way of transferring those images into PES Embroidery Files. I was paying attention to your mistakes you were pointing out so I would not make the same mistakes when I finally get the courage up to try my 1st patch or hat. Great video as I learned a few things.

Ms. Eve- one way to find the exact center of your template (or any other reference point you need) is by using a flat thumbtack. Put a flat thumbtack on your working surface, point up, like an upside down mushroom. Lay the hoop and stabilizer on the tack, and push the tack through the center point of the stabilizer that you marked earlier. Lay that on your working surface, point up. Then lay your hat (with template) on the tack. Push the tack up through the hat, lining it up with the center point of the template. Pin the hat down to the stabilizer. Remove the tack. Also, I use spray temporary adhesive to help adhere the hat to the stabilizer. I've never tried the sticky stabilizer, but you said that gives you trouble anyway. You could also use that to hold the template in place. Great and thorough video. I learned a lot. Thanks!
