I've only been watching and listening to Alan for a short period of time, but I respect his opinions, I don't always agree, I'd be a sheep if I did, but he does know what he's talking about, I'm glad that I subscribed to his channel, Alan rock on!!

Thanks so much. I really appreciate it. You’re so right. It’s just my opinion and my passionate views. But certainly no better than yours or others. That’s the beauty of music. How it makes us as individuals feel. How it effects us personally. No right or wrong. All we can do is try to spread our passion and knowledge.

That Bob Dylan 75 tour CD set is such a historical document.. soooo good...

That's the perfect description. For typical listening the 2 CD Bootleg Series more than enough - fantastic actually. But for a really deep dive the box is mighty fine, though the songs repeat a lot. It is an amazing historical document as you said. Great listen,... but over time.

Hey Alan - good job, some great albums there. Now - Mr Chris Rea - what a legend of the UK rock scene this guy is. Has had some serious health issues over the years, but has managed to soldier on. Great sound, great slide guitar. Albums to recommend. 1 - Shamrock Diaries. 2 - On The Beach. 3 - Dancing With Strangers. 4 - The Road to Hell and Back. 5 - Santo Spirito Blues and last but not least 6 - Blue Guitars. An amazing 8CD hard backed book boxset - highly recommended but hard as hell to find. Luckily I found one - sheer fluke lol. All his albums are great and come highly recommended. Cheers Doug

I've been doing backlog too and I'm nearly finished and it feels good. I'm really chuffed that you like Chris Rea, The Road To Hell and Auberge are 2 of my favourites and of his many great albums On The Beach is the one I'd recommend. I've seen him live and he doesn't disappoint, my wife loved it too!

From what I’ve heard from and what I know about this month’s graduating class, the albums are certainly worthy of real estate in the Alan Rosenberg portfolio collection. “Nice. Nice. Very Nice” is the first song I ever heard by Ambrosia, and I loved it from the get go. I bought the band’s debut album on cassette and enjoyed playing it all those decades ago. The Gene Clark album, John Coltrane’s “Blue Train” (I haven’t heard the “ultimate” version) and anything by Jean-Luc Ponty are tops with me. Though I haven’t heard that massive Bob Dylan and The Rolling Thunder Revue boxset, I have no doubt that it’s a great listen - spread out over time, as you said. I have never heard of Chris Rea, but will check him out based on your recommendation.

Something about Chris Rea I'm really enjoying - kind of a combo of Knopfler, Dire Straits and Robbie Robertson - sort of. I hope you enjoy him.

Hello again ... great that you checked out / enjoyed Chris Rea's Blue Cafe ... one of my "go to" albums of his (I have the complete discography on CD from late '70's to latest releases ... there's a lot!) ... he has a great catalogue to dip into ... loves to play slide and, in the UK, "Driving Home For Christmas" has attained classic "stanard" status ... a superb classic ... key albums, for me, include Auberge, King of the Beach and (for something completely different - no guitars) his La Passione soundtrack .... lush and beautiful ... takes you to a different place (the deluxe box set is great) .... his best selling albums of 80's and Road to Hell (part 1) have been given the 2CD deluxe treatment and are great to get .... he's a blues nut and, when he got very very sick - seriously unwell - during his recuperation, he recorded a massive amount of his tunes in all the diffetent blues styles (country blues, delta blues, rocking blues, etc) which was / is available in a beautiful LP sized box set ... contains, if memory serves, 11 CDs and a DVD, LP sized book .... the set is NOT expensive ... and is a total bargain .... he has also done another box set in the style of old school late '50's rock and roll (the Hofner Blue Notes) .... personally, I suggest that you continue checking out his 1990's releases ... plus the deluxe sets of the '80's ... and find a compliation with the track Still So Far To Go on it (or stream it) ... play that one loud ... .... several folk have covered his songs ... notable ones being Elkie Brooks' hit version of Fool If You Think It's Over ... Rod Stewart's version of Windy Town is also a great song .... have fun ... CMcG, Aberdeen. Scotland

P.S. I'm also a Dylan devotee but. in this instance, I did find the big Rolling Thunder box just "too much" ... and some of the audio fidelity just a wee bit too "boot-leggy" .... it's a box set of Bob's that I could / would trade away .... the 2CD Official Bootleg Series version pretty much "nails" the Rolling Thunder era ... for me. re Bob, I love the big Trouble No More set and, whilst I paid a "chunk of change" (c. US$ 30 in 1979) for the Japanese 2LP import of "At Budokan" (prior to it being announced that it would receive a global release) I have yet to buy the 4 CD Comlete Budokan version just issued ... it's way too expensive... at least the Rolling Thunder box you have just "promoted" was good value... and fairly priced ...

@@calummcgregor3662 I agree that the 2 cd Rolling Thunder is perfect and the box is kind of overkill. But as I’ve listened to the box over s period of months it was really enjoyable although it mostly repeats itself so it’s not necessary. I got a great deal on it though. I love the big Trouble No More box. That’s much more essential to me too. I always like the original At Budokan but we’re in the minority. I’ve yet to get the new release as it’s so overpriced for what you’re getting musically. I hope to find a deal on it down the line. I’ll wait.

Hi Alan, I recently watched another one of your old videos regarding Mick Taylor, and of course there is no question he was the best lead guitarist the Stones ever had. I know a lot of Stones fans feel the Stones peaked when he joined the band with the sequence of Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers and Exile. But in my opinion the Stones peaked way before then. I think they were continually at their peak throughout the entire Brian Jones and Mick Taylor years. I can only think of one album that I’m not too crazy about in that era, and that’s Satanic Majesties, and even that album had a couple of excellent tracks. To me every album apart from that one was pure gold and I never tire playing any of them. Now I know there are a lot of Stones fans that don’t rate the Stones early albums until they started writing all their own songs, but I disagree and think their first self titled debut album was the best debut album I have ever heard from any band. The song selection and energy, and the way they put a stamp on each song to make it their own was incredible. I would put their first album in my top 3 Stones albums of all time. Also this album was a gateway for me to blues and I really started to appreciate the old blues guys like Muddy Waters and Howlin Wolf. I think after Ronnie Wood joined the band the Stones started to slip a little, but I don’t blame Ronnie for that. The best two albums by far in the Ronnie Wood years are Some Girls and Tattoo You. Up until 1989 the albums that are my least favorite are Black and Blue, Emotional Rescue and Dirty Work, but again those albums still have at least 2-3 great tracks on them. I also must admit that since Bill Wyman left after Steel Wheels that I have not been so keen on the newer stuff. But as a lifelong fan I will always keep buying their albums and keep seeing them concert. Hope you don’t mind me sharing my opinion as one Stones fan to another.

Thanks for your amazing comments. I love them and really enjoy them. I agree in that every one of the early stones albums are terrific. Even majesties is a great lesson. Unique in the catalog. It’s a wonderful experiment and in fact, one of my most listened to early stones albums. But my go to stones albums by far are the Mick Taylor years. When I put stones albums on more often than not it’s one of those. Goats head soup is my number one go to album. Sticky fingers is my favorite album of all time. I certainly agree that tattoo you and some girls are the two best Ronwood era stones albums. Even the latter-day stones albums have lots of magic to them. Thanks so much. I appreciate your comments a lot.

If you remember, I saw the Rolling Thunder Review at the Warehouse. That's was a must have box for me. It's a lot if music to listen too. The other Dylan boxes are stuffed with music too. Like you said, I wish the Stones did boxes like Dylan does. I'm NOT a Grand Funkster......TNUC😂 I saw that Atlanta is having water system issues. Boil water advisories etc. Water main breaks are causing the problem. A big concert was cancelled tonight. They better fix this mess.......I can't have the Stones show affected. Will let you know about the show, God willing.

Hi Alan. I like Ambrosia , I remember their hit song back in 1975 called Holding on to Yesterday. Excellent song too. I have a copy of that John Coltrane album Blue Train , but I don't like it much. And yet it's considered one of the best jazz albums of all time. Mind you there's no denying he was a good saxophonist. I love the Kinks . Such good pop music. One of my favorite songs of theirs is Apeman from 1970. Do you like that too ?. Can't go wrong with Led Zep. I like Chris Rea's song from 1978 Fool if you think it's Over. Good one. From Carl in NZ

Thanks so much Carl - I find Jazz in general for me, hit or miss - some I like and some I don't. I tend to like the more melodic jazz, but I'm really enjoying Blue Train. Love Apeman - a classic of course. Gonna keep digging into more Rea - I like him a lot.

When Zeppelin did their latest reissues, I've been collecting the deluxe editions of each album which is one bonus CD, plus the original packaging and the original albums remastered. They also released the remastered albums without the bonus CD's. But they also released boxsets of them. Nicer packaging, but the same bonus music materials. I didn't shell out for those since the music is the same.
