Some terrific finds there, I love Sunburst Finish. I see that Japanese Morricone single has 'La Resa Dei Conti' on it which what The Clash walked on stage to (in the dark) when I saw them in '81.

@@TheAlanRosenbergShowAlan, if you are looking for music to "chill" "out" to, and I mean REALLY chill, here are a couple of suggestions: 1) BRIAN ENO - "Ambient 1 - Music for Airports" and 2) STEVEN HALPERN - "Spectrum Suite" 45th Anniversary Edition. Totally chill. 👍for FAIRPOINT CONVENTION. I love the "Old Folkies" (as AL STEWART would say). THANKS for your new haul update. Very enjoyable as usual. ✨💫✨ P.S. I would just like to take this opportunity to plug 3 albums by the very non prolific group ZERO 7: "The Garden", "Yeah Ghost" and their compilation "Record". THANKS AGAIN! ---- Oh, and one more thing. A lot of people put his music under the "New Age" banner but I think "Prog/Ambient/New Age/Contemporary Jazz" form a wide intersection and the music of YANNI is in it. Windham Hill put out a nice collection of his more "Prog" selections a few years back. The sweeping "Street Level", the synth-heavy "Looking Glass" and the hard drumming "You Only Live Once" (a personal fave) are exemplary of that vein of his music and all 3 can be found on their compilation "Port of Mystery" .You mentioned that the volume of the U2 concert was below the threshold of being too loud which made for a really enjoyable experience. I've seen YANNI twice and witnessed the same thing (albeit not in Vegas). A person I used to work with did lighting for music shows and did one if not both of those concerts. He said YANNI was very meticulous about everything; no doubt that had to do with the volume as well. He must have one incredible ear to deduce that for every different venue!! I never understood why rockers had to play their music at such great volumes. Many artists have lost most if not all of their hearing and for what? HUEY LEWIS became very depressed when he lost his. I wonder how STING deals with the same issue. Oh well, until next time. - Andee ✨✨✨

@@andee7255 Thanks so much Andee - I've heard great things about those Eno albums - I don't have any. Don't see them much out in the wild - but looking. I actually have a bunch of Yanni and on the rare occasion will give a listen. Like most saw the Acropolis concert on PBS and I actually have that laserdisc. Picked up a few of his other albums as well. It's a very rare listen for me, but under the right circumstances I throw it on. Never heard of Zero 7 - I'll check it out. Thanks again.

Tangerine Dream requires patience. Please do not be discouraged by the first impression. This team deserves special attention. I recommend the albums: "Rubycon" and "Ricochet" from 1975. Tangerine Dream has over 140 official discs and 200 bootlegs in its catalog. As a joke, I recommend the 50 CD Boxset by Klaus Schulze from 2000 ("Ultimate Editions"), which "contains" the three previous boxes (2X10+1X25+5 CD with new material) . The largest collection of CDs I've seen is Mozart and his complete works (250 CD Boxset). Of course, I don't own Klaus Schulze's "Ultimate Editions", I can't imagine listening to this material in its entirety. Today, the cost of purchasing this edition is over $2000. This release... was reissued in the La Vie Electronique series in 16 separate sets of three discs (+ one of 5 CDs). Have... two. Tangerine Dream's discography is indescribable and unlistenable to throughout a human life. I think it's a truly avant-garde idea - to create a work that can never be known in its entirety.
@TheAlanRosenbergShow
@TheAlanRosenbergShow 2 ай бұрын
I knew they had a big discography, but that's insane. Obviously the quality has to be all over the place. Their release schedule makes Neil Young and Prince look like slackers. Well I'll see how I like these two. I know they're considered amongst, if not, their best.

Hi 👋 Alan. Good haul. I want a copy of that Kinks collection. Herbie Hancock is cool. I remember my older brother buying a 45rpm single of 🍉 Watermelon Man back in the 1960s. Ships in the Night by Be Bop Deluxe was a hit here in 1976. It charted well in Britain too. It has a very odd guitar intro to the song. I own a double cd copy of Phil Spector . He produced The Ronettes big hits in the early 1960s. I like their song Baby I love you from 1963. The Ramones covered that song too would you believe. I like REO Speedwagon's song Can't fight the feeling from the 1980s. You are turning Japanese with a Pinsong Alan. Remember that Vapours hit song ?. Ha !. Good finds From Carl in NZ.

Cutting back on purchases LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL - yeh right. You have no chance, and the backlog continues to spiral out of control LOLOL. Love some of those purchases though, especially the Fairports, Be Bop Deluxe, and Who items. Crazy crazy prices - ridiculously cheap. That Phil Spector box is amazing, but lets face it Alan - you'll never get round to listening to it for years, if at all LOLOLOL. I've already read Springsteens "Born To Run" but what I do have that maybe you dont have (now there's a thing - right?) is a 20+ audio CD of Keith Richards - Life. I've already read the book, but the audio CD will be well worth listening to. Just come back from holiday in Melbourne and picked up some super nice things, one of the best another Sandy Denny Box Set - "Who Knows Where The Time Goes". Thats two box sets of hers that I have - one of my favourite female singer songwriter vocalists. Thats me Alan - happy hunting. Cheers Doug

I have a great compilation of hers No More Sad Refrains I think it's called. Anyway enjoy that beautiful box - I know you will. Yea she was quite a talent. I'd like to get the Keith audiobook too. Of course the chance of me actually spending 20 hours listening to Springsteen read his book - is remote at this point...lol

Over the years, I've bought a few vinyl/CDs which I found interesting. Not as much as you, though. I have a CD of the Beach Boys called Lost & Found 1961-62. The recordings are prior to signing with Capitol, I think (don't hold to this). Interesting with some songs appearing later on their official Beach Boys albums. A pre-AD/DC Bon Scott in a a group called the Valentines. Listening to the CD, you would never guess the future AC/DC vocalists was singing pop tunes. Both of the above CDs were mentioned by a former co-worker about their existence. Both bought over 30 years ago. I bought a Patti Smith box set of live radio recordings - 1975 to 1978. Was an import from the UK. This was about 3 years ago. Very good quality. There was a Bruce Springsteen vinyl box set called All Those Years. Spanned from 1971 to 1982. Quality, obviously, varied since the songs came from many different sources. A CD box set came out later and I bought that box set also. Again, bought both over 30 years ago. Made a purchase of Lena Lovich 4 CD box set from Cherry Red. A UK based record company. Only know her for the one song that came out in 1979 ('Lucky Number'). Made a purchase of a box set of a group named Fanny. An all-female group from the 1970s. Saw a PBS documentary on them and decided why not. Again, purchase box set from Cherry Red. This one is a pre-order. There was a box set of female singers from the 60s but contained their lesser known songs. CDs came in a box shaped like a hat box. Pretty cool. 2-CD set call 'Alright, This Time, Just the Girls', volumes 1 and 2. Except for L7 and Hole, never heard of any of the groups on these CDs. Many of the songs are great. Volume 1 is the better set, though volume 2 do have some gems. These are the more memorable ones I've purchased. Probably have a few more, but not going to rummage through all of my collection.

Really interesting purchases - I know of some of them. Some kind of "grey" market collections - lots out there - radio shows - bootlegs that because of expired copyrights are being sold. Nice to have actually. I bought a Fanny vinyl album about 2 years ago - still in my backlog unfortunately. I also saw the PBS documentary and thought it was really interesting. I've been familiar with them since the 70's but don't know their music - eventually I'll get to it. Nice Patti Smith grey market collection too. Best, Alan

@@TheAlanRosenbergShow I was able to buy the Beatles at Shea Stadium (1965) of the actual line feed. Also bought Beatles 1965 Atlanta concert. Was able to buy the complete Rolling Stones 1969 Hyde Park concert. Ditto on Altamont concert. Was able to buy some of the 1969 concerts (San Diego, Oakland, Detroit, Boston). All from Japan. Good sound quality (obviously, not professionally recorded). Back in the day, the copyright expiration was 20 years. A few years ago, I read an article that some European countries were going to change the copyright extend the expiration term to a longer time. Not sure if those countries went through with the legislation (though there probably more important issues to worry about than copyright laws).

Hi mate good vid. Always interesting to hear the cost of music in the US. In the UK we have "Charity shops" which are similar to your thrift stores. One of my local ones sells cd's at 30 pence a shot. I haven't heard you mention Blur yet. Your idea for the sexy album covers sounds fun. A bit in your face but the first Nutz (70's UK rock band) album caught the attention of a number of teenage boys back in the day 😂

I know that Nutz cover - though I don't own it. The two times I've been to the UK - I fell in love with the Charity shops - and they were all over. I bought many CD's there for dirt cheap - was a dream come true for me. I could live there - I LOVE London so much!!!!! I also made a trip to Brighton to see the Quadrophenia sights, the pier and ride the Helter Skelter - bucket list. Fantastic.
