Kurt Russell: Badass under any circumstances.

I loved working on these figures. Putting the skins on them. Painting them with acetone based paint. The four of us management audioanimatronic artists at Walt Disney World even got to portray ourselves in a national commercial as we walked through and checked the attraction. We soon realized we were not alone. This commercialwas for Halloween at Disney World. I actually replaced the artist Leotta (Madam Leotta) who had been at Disney World the first couple of years to train the other three artists. Neat lady.

was the automation for the characters fully mechanical, or did they also use relay logic in part?

RJ Ogren Wait, you worked on The Haunted Mansion?!?!? Well, I suppose some of your fellow imagineers, who tragically died over the years, may be residents in the Mansion now.

Fun facts....Thurl Ravenscroft provided the voice for the singing bust seen in the video. He was also the voice for the original Tony the Tiger and he also sings Mr. Grinch in How the Grinchs stole Christmas.

5:07 - I stick with what Walt said. It's a Mansion built specifically for ghosts to come and stay in. No household curse, no mass murder, no departed sea captain, no tragic wedding. Just a Haunted Mansion in Disneyland.
@EpicMickey77710 жыл бұрын
I don't mind the tragic wedding idea but I guess the idea of it being a rest home for ghosts fits well.
@brennabrodbeck51839 жыл бұрын
They used the Tragic Wedding for Disneyland Paris and they said there is a curse over the house at Disneyland Paris
@TherealRNOwwfpooh Жыл бұрын
But there is a curse (most adaptations include it), murder (a handful of ghosts went out this way [Connie's husbands in the post-2007 refurb & gator bait Sally Slater] and suicide [the Ghost Host killed himself]), the sea captain is canon (Culpepper Clyne, formerly Captain Gore), the tragic wedding exists (both Beating Heart's tragic origin and Constance Hatchaway axe murdering her husbands), etc.

The Disney Company began building the Haunted Mansion in 1961 and it was first opened in 1969. It took a whole decade to complete the job. Wow!

4:53 If you think about it. It was Really nice for Walt to have worried we're ghosts would stay since all other old houses have been torn down. And it's sad that 999 ghosts live there now, cuz if you think about it... The must have been countless of haunted houses destroyed, leaving ghosts homeless.... Walt cared for the dead, more than any living person I've seen. I Know that Backstory Was Made up, for the lore of the Haunted Mansion. But you gotta admit. It was very generous of him.

Paul Frees was also the voice behind Professor Ludwig Von Drake. Eleanor Audley, the voice behind Madame Leota, was also the voice of Cinderella's wicked Stepmother (even the live-action reference model for her) and Maleficent.

This is interesting and ancient even though The Osmonds seem to have a hauntingly good time in Anaheim, CA, of course. Celebrities are going into The Haunted Mansion and it's a dream come true for them even though this attraction at Disneyland is very nostalgic and scary at the same time.

Several, actually. Most of them were clip shows with Professor Von Drake's hilarious commentary. One of my personal faves was "Inside Outer Space", where Ludwig, in an observatory, tries to plug his own space travel guide. The clips in this show were from the Tomorrowland specials "Man in Space", "Tomorrow the Moon", and "Mars and Beyond".

I did'nt know that about Kurt Russell , but i did know about the voice of the haunted mansion ghost host . Paul Fress has been the voice of cartoons for years, if you ever watched The Beatles cartoons Paul Frees was the voice of John Lennon and George Harrison.

6:25 Your cadaverous palour, portrays and aura of foreboding. Almost as though you sense a disquieting metamorphosis. Is this haunted room actually stretching? Or is it your imagination? Hmm? And consider this dismaying observation: this chamber has no windows, and no doors. (chuckle) Which offers you this chilling challenge: *to find...a way out!!!* (Laughter) Of course, there's always *my* way.

@chimera15 Many of the ideas got put into storage either as plans or full props. Disney likes to keep as many of the ideas their Imagineers think of around as much as they can. Who knows, they might decide to revisit a lost special effect later if they can. For example, in Disney World's haunted mansion, they now have a section with a bunch of stairways and doors leading to nowhere. This comes from Imagineers who designed a Winchester Mystery Mansion style room but it got turned down..until now.
