All good things have to end. No blood, no tears, but lots of sweat. And views, and fun, and PRs, and caffeine gels, and lots of getting lost in Pyrenean towns. It's been a blast!

Thanks! Tried a ride the next day and was just completely done, couldn’t go uphill. I do indeed need a rest!!

Thanks! I should have trained more on long climbs; here in Mallorca they are too short with the exception of Puig Major. And I guess I should have coughed up the EXTRA 1500E for the HR accommodation package so I could actually have eaten a decent breakfast each morning!!

Spandelles was a little hidden gem till the TDF discovered it. The climb up from the other side (the one you descended) is savage! First time i did it was after Aubisque and Soulor - i was crawling by time i got to the top. That surface is proper "grippy" aswell and the surface dressing was still loose in places on the descent i did to where you started - horrible at speed at Pogi found out in 2022. How did you not film that balcony road from Soulor to Aubisque - quite possibly the most beautiful bit of road! Well done on the podium.

Yep, I was glad we had gone up the 'easy' side of Spandelles! On that balcony, I was trying to catch someone's wheel, so no time for filming! Podium take priority over KZfaq!!

Started playing this on the headset while starting my way up my usual 800m col this point in the week, dismounted to do an in depth weather check at 200m at a natural place to do so, finally decided to continue the climb, got back on, and it transpired I had a flat on my front sw turbo cotton clincher. As reported, they do seem plagued in this regard. 1.Will go back to my préféré sw turbo all black, hang the aesthetics. 2. Recently, similarly “sacked” tpu tubes having an explosive puncture one particularly hot day recently, reverting to more orthodox maxxis butyl tubes. Partly informed by the sudden total loss of any air that one would expect, partly given that clincher in fact came off the rim and averting disaster and coming to a halt safely, maintaining a vertical attitude was done only by a miracle, witchcraft or some combination of the two. Over and above determining to go back to clinchers, and specific clincher of choice, t ube selection is worth thinking on too. Choose wisely.

Great job! It's a dream to be able to ride that race, especially to do as well as you did! I have an Ostro VAM too and would love to know more about your exact bike setup for the race. Would it be possible to do a video describing your choices and why? Thank you so much!

Hi, Probably not enough interest to do a bike setup vid, but basically I ran Extradite 39T wheels (960g the pair) with 25mm Veloflex Pro Race tubular tyres. No issues there. I am experimenting with going to Extradite 39C wheels (1050g the pair) with Conti GP5000 S TR 25mm tyres with 50g of fluid, but this wasn't ready for the HR. I was OK with 1 500ml bottle as feed stops are frequent. Saw some 140mm front discs. BAD idea in the mountains.Basically, go light, go aero!

Excellent! Just finishing is big achievement..I didn't feel like starting Stage 3! I didn't do anything specific beforehand, just tried to ride hills! www.strava.com/athletes/158677
