IF there is a eye watering amount of money offered for Liverpool, they will sell, an offer too good then yes its sold. It like all things, if you can keep it and maintain it to the same standards, then you won't sell, no matter the money involved. Liverpool want to see how far their club is valued in future, and maybe in 10 years could be worth double the market rate today at $8 billion USD.

Anfield has limited scope for adding value in terms of the land around and the expansion of the stadium . Very constrained site . Old Trafford is a much bigger and more valuable site in terms of its property value .

I think this is rather obvious, FSG have never said yes we want to sell the whole club but have always looked for heavy investment, saying that its pretty clear if a buyer comes in for FSG's ideal selling price then they would obviously sell, that is just smart bussiness and most owners of a football club (unless you have a tangible emotional connection with the club) will likely do the same. Either way if United get sold good for them i still dont think it will make an iota of difference to them if they are bought by billionaires as they constantly spend fortunes every transfer window for years now anyway.

@@polaris7122 so according to your figures Man united revenue was 3.5 times more than Newcastle but the glaziers want 20x more money lol do you understand how companies are valued. A company like man united with zero growth will appreciate in value at about 5 or 6% just above average inflation rates over a period of time. so it's price to earning ratio will be about 6 or 7 making the club worth about 3.5 or at a premium 4.5 billion depending on if the club has been maintained and what operation costs can be tax right offs. Just go look on Yahoo finance Man U is a publicly traded company which reports revenues quarterly.

In April 1971 I went to my football match Leicester 2 Man Utd 0 for the next 20 few years the only thing that mattered was the score, win, lose, draw. Now 30 years later it is about which multi billionaire / Country owns the football team, I hate the PL overpaid players and billionaire owners who for the most part could not care less about the club or fans, if LFC, MUFC, MCFC, AFC, CFC, THFC, NUFC were relegated the owners would be gone. And this is meant to be GOOD for the sport?

@@pabloes588 Get your numbers right. Klopp with his 800M or so has been trying to compete with a number of clubs spending 1200M or so. Liverpool is not penniless, but their expenditures by gross or net is 9th or 10th over the last few seasons. FSG paid good money early on, and Klopp won the big trophies. FSG sat on their hands for 3 years, and other clubs are pulling past.

Its ridiculous, being a 'fan' of one of the two biggest and most succesful clubs from england, built on hard work, you and a solid identity now have crybaby fans who want klopp to be given 300M a year. I think Henry was be clear about his intent. Whereas the Glazers are not. The Glazers are seeking investment as the original statement from the club said. The media ran with “MUFC is for sale” and Glazers ran with it because it has taken away the protests and boycotts. But . . . they aren’t selling. Especially, if they get silent investors. I'm one of the few Liverpool fans who's happy with this news. Regardless of where we are atm, FSG took over when we were in a huge predicament both on and off the pitch after Hicks and Gillett's irresponsible ownership. They steadied the ship financially, made some fantastic appointments and shrewd deals, and brought us back to the top of English football. I feel like investment in the club with FSG still at the helm is the ideal scenario.

Rubbish,the same owners who wanted a super league,the same owners who tried to double the ticket prices ,the same owners who give klopp a stingy budget every year and now look at our position. Yes,I’m great full for them getting us past achievements,but don’t be so naïve about them staying. How are they going to compete with the likes of city,Newcastle,man united and Chelsea ,it’s all about John Henry being a greedy business man ,talk to red soxs fans . I’m just waiting for the Milner,Henderson and chamberlain extended contracts and the same old “ Curtis Jones is a world beater “ in closed season. The midfield and defence are a shambles and that’s pure lack of investment .

@andybyrne50 All the owners wanted the ESL but fair play to John Henry he listens to fans and he backed down like he's done multiple times. The way clubs like Man City and Chelsea have spent is unsustainable and that sort of spending is what got us into trouble under Hicks and Gillett. Man City are under investigation rn and their premier league wins are tainted with financial doping and the human rights violations of their owners. Chelsea's spending looks very risky, especially with how they're performing atm. I'd rather have a club that struggles to compete financially with cheating clubs than a club that falls apart under immense debt and investigations from footballing authorities. At least FSG are looking for investors so we can compete better financially but in the right way.

The summer will show FSG up and what they really think of the club and I bet it’s still the same old rubbish with them sell to buy and who exactly are they going to sell ? I just don't think LFC is an attractive proposition as what Man Utd are. Second a lot of these Americans are investors into businesses they don't understand that they are expected to input millions each season to buy players season after season hence why both clubs are looking for further investment. Gillete and Hicks were prime example before they realised they had to sell up in the end!

If anyone actually believes "liverpool are not for sale" is down to utd, how have you survived all this time 😂😂😂... also, I'm sure buying liverpool is a better proposition than utd... utd haven't really done anything for 10+ years, liverpool have won everything in that time, also investing in the stadium next to no debt where as utd have loads of debt!! If anyone would rather buy utd over liverpool it's purely down to them being blinded by the name nothing else

Just when I think Simon Jordan is talking sense, he comes out with this nonsense. Let's get it right, Liverpool FC is not competing with Manchester Utd, they have nothing to do with our sale or inward investment. TalkSPORT's narrative is to inflate Manu and castigate Liverpool and Tottenham. As a fan, I believe that FSG are being greedy and hoping to get more money from a sale in the future, they have shown that they cannot or will not financially compete with Man City, Manu, and Arsenal of this world when comes to player acquisition.

Where was the proper scrutiny when the Glazers bought it on debt? When its newcastle, its good for the club. When its united, all of a sudden its dirty oil money! As a united fan, i want the oil money. FSG came out and announced they were looking for investors not a full sale way before United were put up for sale which kinda puts a spanner in the works of his entire idiotic narrative. What Henry has come out and said in the last couple of days is no different to the very first announcement they made a day after it was leaked they'd had a dossier made for potential investors, the talk of a full sale has been from the media alone based on that dossier
