I love Snow Patrol so much, Gary Lightbody has written some of the most beautiful lyrics in the history of music. They wrote a lot of their early work here in Glasgow, Scotland where I live with my partner. Their track Crack The Shutters is our "couples song" and will be the first dance at our wedding.

I was at that gig... Oxegen is a festival in Ireland. 2009 was someline up... Snow Patrol and Blur, James, Kings of Leon, The Killers, Lady Gaga, Nick Cave, Calvin Harris, Florence and themachine, Katy Perry, Pet SHop Boys, Nine Inch Nails, Manic Street Preachers and that is just the tip e of the Iceberg. Another year I saw REM play, and Michael Stipes commented that you knew you were in Ireland when the audience sang along even with the instrumental portions of the songs. One very powerful live gig, was James playing their final gig in 2001, in their home town of Manchester, as they had decided to break up the band. (The reunited a few years later, but at the time this was going to be their last time ever on stage together), ending with their Anthem 'Sit Down in front of a local crowd that loved the band. Chasing Cars was only popular in USA because of it was used in Greys Anatomy. But in actuality, Run is by far their most popular song. Its the song that made them big.

I was about to chew you out about how everyone would know Stereophonics but then realised their highest US chart position ever was 127… In the UK they are among R.E.M & Taylor Swift for example for success in the album charts over time so that’s pretty strange.

They had about 10/15 hits in the UK. I maintain Snow Patrol have not written a bad song. Chasing Cars is overplayed but still a good song. Their album filler material is strong and their other hits are decent. Run, Chocolate, New York, What If This Is All The Love You Ever Get? are a few good starting points.

As a proud Scotsman bn 2 many festivals n gigs only place that comes close is Ireland and a Irish crowd imo, don't know if you remember but oxygen n T in Park used run same weekend n was basically same festival just daily line up was switched went to both in my life incredible wish was back like that instead phones everywhere (showing my age 🙈🤣)

This is an amazing song and when it first came out I loved it, I bought the album and played this song on repeat over and over. Check out the studio version as well. This is such an anthem!!! I love the songs You're All I Have and Open Your Eyes, but there are many others you could pick.

I got to see them on their first US tour. Also, one of the first to ask for this song to be played on Alt Radio in my area. Chasing Cars was a song on Gray's Anatomy which is why the song is played so much now. Have had a chance to hang with the band as well and have drinks a few times. Great guys! Watch Snow Patrol’s “Hands Open” live at the Royal Opera House 2006 for a great fast song! “Chocolate” is another great one to check out. They have loads of great songs. I’ve seen them live 7 times. They’re AMAZING and Gary Lightbody is my favourite frontman of any band I’ve seen live.He is really funny and loves interacting with the audience in between songs. I can’t say enough great d about them.

I was there. Couple of things to point out. The lack of smartphones has the crowd totally engaged. Also, the weather used to be terrible. 4 days of walking around in pure shit all we had were to keep our spirits up was a good sing a long. Great memories 👌

Try Chocolate from the same album. Absolutely relentless drum beat. It should also be noted that Snow Patrol are a nightmare band for crowd participation because Gary doesn't always remember the right order of the verses or all the words.

Well, lads - if you're really looking to watch a Live "Show" - then I will just say to you both, to take a look at an E L O one with Jeff Lynne. Look for either (both were pre-covid by the way, so before 2019), their most recent Wembley Stadium gig (I think almost all of the songs played at it are on YT for you to watch - Mr Blue Sky, Livin' Thing, Rockaria, etc, just far too many top songs to mention really!) - which was more for fans of all ages based event to go to . . . Or, I think the last Hyde Park one they did - (concert in the park) - was a free one, I think, where anybody at all could just go to watch it?? . . . I preferred the Wembley one due more to the lightshow, acoustics, & also due to the fans who were all there just to watch and enjoy it all though. Enjoy . . .

They had actually had a couple of albums before they released The Final Straw. Run was the first single from it and was released just at the right time for the mid 2000s Uk music scene when bands like Keane, the Kaiser Chiefs, Maximo Park, Libertines, Franz Ferdinand etc were all just hitting the charts.

Chasing cars is overplayed(to the point Gary lightbody joked in an nme interview it was his band's equivalent of radiohead's "creep") but "run" and "spitting games" are both great live.
