People are identifying themselves as inhuman identities like furries, therians, and otherkin. If you don't know what any of those words mean, neither do I. This reminds me of the time when I was 13 and I told my adult neighbour that I needed to tell him a secret. He was dead serious and i deadass looked into his eyes and said "I'm a mermaid". Man tried sooooo hard to stay serious and not laugh. Lmaooooo now after 12 yrs he still brings it up 😂😂😂

When I was 13 (now 21), I believed that I was a wolf therian and lived life based on that belief, and I ended up getting a therian symbol tattooed on my chest. Now I am planning on getting that tattoo covered up. My experience with it, and looking back on how I felt at the time, I can say it was more so of an escape from reality and that I was living in a fantasy world. You can believe what you want, but it doesn't make it real.

Bruh. I'm so glad I didn't grow up in the same time when this became a thing. When I was young escapism was reading fantasy and sci fi, using my imagination to write stories, getting into character for a play or musical. Nowadays there's all this weird stuff. I can't say I relate to your experience, but you were also a kid. Glad you're past that now.

it seems to be 13/14 year olds, and rooted in feelings, I replied to a couple here, and two of them say had a dream of their past, one says they're 2 animals. but a consistent thing is, they "feel" they are these "theriotypes" and do "quadrobics" Looking at the way these kids write, i've got the sense it's cult-like.

So I saw an 8 year old girl jumping around Chinatown in London at the weekend, she had a tail and a mask and was pretending to be a fox. However she was being videoed by an adult hoping it was a family member, and she was being watched by grown up men who were taking photos. A little girl with her backside in the air and a tail being watched by adults, made me feel sick to my stomach.

thats the issue imo, you have a group comprised of mostly children posting themselves online, theres so many groomers in the furry community and just on tik tok in general, a lot saying things like their parents don't know theyre a therian, it makes for a very easy target for groomers. all you have to do is look up therian and youll find tons of kids

As a child, (mainly because of the The Kane Chronicles, Spirit Animals series, and the Warior cats books that I was using to learn English), I always liked cats and even tried to mimic some of the behaviors. However, that does not mean that I am a cat or wild feline. I just like the idea of hanging out with them to study their behaviors. Apparently this is how I managed to accidentally lead several stray cats into the house when I was twelve.

Hi. I'm really curious about this "therian" belief. I don't hate you guys or find anything weird about y'all. But why do y'all call it a "belief"? I get that you believe that you were some sort of animal (s) in your past life, but why and how? And I've noticed that it's mainly kids that are therians. What exactly is a therian? Honestly, I’m so glad I grew up before any of this really took off. I was a weird kid. I was into a bunch of different things, and I was just exploring what I liked. But at the end of the day I was still a girl, I just had weird funny things that I liked to do. What happened to kids having an imagination and they wanna play and pretend there are some thing and that’s OK it’s just pretend. It’s like you pretend to be something and now that’s your whole identity. This is why our art and our entertainment has gone to shit because we can’t tell the difference now between fantasy and reality. These people on TikTok they could be amazing, artists and they are Spending their time on TikTok thinking that what they’re saying in their head is reality when they could just create great art.

I know I'd be f-d. I was totally convinced for the longest time I was an elf from another dimension. LOTR coming out only made it worse. Instead I just entered the indie entertainment industry and became a writer. Which is exactly where half these people should be. This reminds me of the early 2000s when I spent time taking quizzes online to find out which Harry Potter house I’d be in. Harry Potter was huge at that time, and I was genuinely interested in figuring out my correct house. My daughters friend is 8 and says she is a carrot. She will draw pictures for my daughter and sign them with a little carrot symbol. She answers to Carrot. It’s so nice and normal to see these quirks expressed in childhood. Maybe the folks who are truly consumed by these identities didn’t get to.

when you say “oh there’s no guidelines you have to have something” there is guidelines, there’s just many different types of therians. that’s like saying the lgbtq doesn’t exist because “there’s not guidelines”, yes there is and that’s like saying gay people and trans people can’t both be lgbtq because they are different. lgbtq people have sometime of sexuality or gender identity difference, and therians identify as an animal on non physical levels. there IS guidelines there are many different types.

There's a ton of value in acknowledging that your identity isn't entirely up to you, not the least of which is basic integration with society. I can identify as a hardworker all I want, but I'm doing myself a disservice if I don't take what my boss or coworkers think into account, and if none of them think I am it's unlikely that they're all wrong. I can either be confused and fired or participate in society and something greater than myself.

As someone who has been a therian for much longer than tiktok and youtube and social media; I am a therian based on very vivid repeating dreams I've had since I was a kid. I am a Christian as well, and my connection with my animal and God are close in a way, same with how I express my art.

I had a friend like this in elementary school. She would wear cat ears and hiss and scratch people. We all read the warrior cat books and each had our own “cat persona”. It was fun to me! I always had an active mind and childish role play seemed harmless. Once we got to middle school, her and my other friends joined the art classes and created their own fursonas. I chose band, and we grew apart. 8 years later, and I believe she is now transitioning to being a male, but still identifies with the furry community. I pray for her occasionally. Hope she’s ok, and I thank God that band saved me.

I love drawing animals and been called a furry many times, i did like furrys when i was in middle school but not anymore. Ive been in art since 5th grade and i feel even more distant with my fellow artists. Everyone is either gay or trans or saying they identify as something different than what they appear to be, i feel like i dont belong. I love what i do and what i create but i feel very different than my peers.

As a former high school choir teacher, I saw that a lot of my students were part of the LGBT community, especially those involved in drama and art, but not all! I want to encourage you to keep pursuing your passion through art & know that there are others out there with similar interests to you that don't follow this ideology! I promise we exist ❤

Who are you with your little understanding of us to make these statements, one, not all of us are adults, there are many young therians, two, we don’t identify as animals because of our insecurities if we have them, it’s because it’s a part of our identity we don’t choose! Not all of us want to be Therian! I was in denial for months, and it took me a few more to figure out my first theriotype! We genuinely are our theriotypes mentally, and we know because of our involuntary animalistic experiences among other things, also we don’t immediately go, “Oh! I used to pretend to be a fox as a kid! That means I am one!” We have many other experiences that make us know we identify as our theriotypes. You do not have the knowledge or empathy to even have an openly shared opinion on us.

1: therianthropy is a belief and a non-physical connection to an animal, it can be spiritual or mental/psychological. There are also some therians who belief that their connection come from past lives, you can either be born therian or develop a connection to animals via different ways! 2. The most common theriotype is wolf 3. A therian is someone who believes they are an animal while also being very well aware that their human. While furries do cosplay, it's a hobby and anyone can become a furry by buying or making a fursuit. Talking about fursuits, the price is insane and we should respect furries because they have talent to make those incredible fursuits. (Edit: this is from an old Google classroom assignment I did :3)

as a therian myself i think there r some things u didnt understand or really know i guess? the thing you read about therianthropy is true, but, most therians are past life therians (they were an animal or a non-human in their past life/lives). i am a past life therian wolf, i remember being a wolf and i also get shifts of being a wolf. shifts r involentary and you cant control them whenever they happen.. usually shifts happen when therians r doing quadrobics or doing animal-like things. i hope this helps and if it doesnt then oh well i tried my best!! ^_^

My husband and I were accidentally at a furrycon while on vacation last year! 😂 They had an event in a conference room at a museum we were visiting. We were so confused while we were walking in with all those people wearing costumes. I had a conversation with an older lady in the lobby who said that her teenaged grand daughter refuses to go anywhere out of costume! 😮 😢

Brett is one of my favorite youtuber and I'm kind of a furry but I'm more of a scalie (I have a Dino mask) but I'm NOT a therian, I knew one and she said she believed she spiritually connected as a wolf but its against my beliefs as a Christian. I'm just interested in making my oc's and bringing them into real life as a way to express myself, and I've always loved animals and I think they are adorable. MOST OF the furry/scalie Is against Zo0phil3s and think they are gross. I don't get those ppl. Zoo's are sick minded freaks.

therians and zoos are not the same thing. just cause a person is a therian (aka identifies as a non-human animal all ways but physical) does not mean they are zoos.

I AM LOWKEY YOU!! Im christian.. yes but here is my therian story. In short, I relied on identifying as an animal for a long time. I then realized, thanks to God, how wrong it was. Never went back to it. I make dino masks too (: im subscribing to you rn.

I’m a furry and I really like your content. To be honest I’m glad you did this video and learned that furries DONT think we’re animals. We are just regular people that like to draw and dress up as anthropomorphic animals! It’s basically just cosplaying. Most of us are very normal and not crazy perverts or anything. It’s just a bad stereotype:( (there are some exceptions, but the furry community as a whole really is made up of normal, if not somewhat nerdy, people).

Clears up a lot for me because I never actually got why the furries were like... taboo? Fetishy? From everything I can find they just seem to be people who like to dress up and draw characters... and I can vibe with that. Yeah there are gross people but I mean, there are R34 Pokemon artists and that doesn't make Pokemon fetishy. Idk

Yeah it's basically just cosplay! Like, people who go to comic-con dressed as Darth Vader or Wonder Women don't actually think they're the REAL Darth Vader or Wonder Women. It's fun, artistic expression for most of us. And just like every year at Comic-con there's gonna be at least one hotel room with a guy paying a Cat Women to whip him while he's tied to the bed, the Furry community has it's own unsavory pervert members. That just comes with the territory of a large, decentralized community/fandom.

Now you are the age you are, you've been told you are one by your favorite social media influencers, friends online, or some other online community. You didn't just wake up one daty and think " i'm a dragon!" That is you becoming one, because someone else put these ideas into your head. I know how this works because I know who created the 'Otherkin' identity, I was around when it was created, and where it was too.

@@ArgentWolf95 I did not learn about it from the world, I have had spiritual experiences in which I have seen myself, my tail, my talons and horns. I have sensations of phantom limbs, where I feel my tail and wings. I am Dragonkin, and I know this to be true. I did not learn this from a human, otherkin or not.

i agree with her about the fact that all these labels arent that necessary cause it can ACTUALLY confuse some people. im also a therian but it didnt really took me that much time to realize and to know my theriotype. i just grew up climbing trees and sometimes acting like a cat but it doesnt change my identity
